Can any one give me advice on how to keep the local big bruiser of a tom cat out of my garden, which it thinks is its territory. So my doddery old moggy can go out for her early evening wander up the garden path in safety. Last week it all got a bit out of hand she fluffed her self up like a bog brush, hissing and spitting and he just took a big lump out of her tail! poor old love!
aw bless her!
I'd be interested too, as Smitch came in a bit worse for wear (and missing lumps of fur) after she had her Tom Cat visitor the other night. He keeps trying to get in the cat flap and she has to fend him off. He's about twice the size of her!!
We get visitations from the local Tom. He comes through the garden at the same place, at the same time, so I usually lie in wait with the hosepipe. He doesn't visit quite so often any more. :hihi:
water pistol or hose pipe is probably the best method of deterring unwelcome visitors without causing actual bodily harm.

Except when it's 3am and your hosepipe's bust
I end up running down to the catflap and sticking my foot through it (no I don't kick him) - he soon moves on :D

i had to have a stalk out when the tom kept chasing my cat. he kept charging through the cat flap & hiding behind the turtle tank.
i stalled out the cat flap, sitting on the cold floor with a little bottle of water with a sports cap on getting ready to squirt the little bully. it soon worked, i would try & stalk out in the garden with a hose or bottle of water as already sugested.

I never get cats on my garden the dog will not allow them. Does your dog not get on with your cat at all.
I'd wait for this big tom for a week or two when your old furry wants to go on her evening walk, and go armed with a supersoaker water pistol and a tin with a sealed lid and some stones in it.
When he goes anywhere near her, you make yourself as big, noisy and scary as you can manage and spray him with water. It's not harmful to him, but he'll soon get the message that it's easier to stay away from you and her.

I'd go with that - it wont hurt bruiser but it should discourage him from entering your property.
