I'm looking for a career change and have been thinking about training to become a Paramedic or joining the Air Traffic Control Service. Does anyone work as either and have any advice/insight about the jobs?

Cheers

There was an advert in the Sheffield Star a couple of weeks of for trainee paramedics. Why don't you try the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals website for vacancies, or maybe the South Yorks Ambulance service.

My girlfriend's dad was an air traffic controller at Heathrow. It pays well and you get quite a lot of time off. The responsibility and stress is however IMMENSE. If you're up for a challenge and fancy a job where one mistake can cause 100's of deaths, then go for it!
He did however immensely enjoy the periods where he was air traffic controller for the tiny airport on Islay (they make a lot of whisky there don't you know).

ATCO's provide an invaluable service, pretty difficult to get in.......Class 1 medical required, numerous interviews, qualifications, but if you get the job apparently it is very rewarding.
