Little Ruby has been a very naughty girl.
She managed to get a disposable razor out of our bathroom bin yesterday and we think she has swallowed the razor head :o as we cannot find it anywhere and she had chewed all the handle. Whats most annoying is she did it while i was in the shower i had left the door open so i could hear her as Mr Adz was still in bed and she has been so good with things lately.
Phoned emergency vets and we agreed to feed her so she had something in her stomach and then see what happened.
30 minutes later i went into the garden to hang washing out, Mr Adz in front room on computer 2 minutes pass and she has been out of his sight she had managed to pull the bin over and had eaten some chicken bones :o so we now have possible razor blade and bones in her tummy   .
Took her to the vets today as she is not right, not her usual self which is not surprising really. She is having a GA, xray and prob. will have to be opened up and the rubbish removed. She is suposed to go of to her new home on saturday to start her life properly. I feel like a very inadequate owner right now and felt very ashamed relaying to the vet what she had eaten. We are very careful with what is left lying about and we don't leave her unattended unless in her cage for more than a few minutes but was in a hurry to get ready and the bin well we just didn't think grrrr!!!!
Gonna be £600 poorer now no holiday this year

Anyways my rant over i just hope she will be ok

Ahh I hope everything works out ok. Try not to beat yourself up about it. Pets are like kids, you can't have your eyes on them 24/7, accidents happen, it's the way that you deal with them that counts. You've done the best thing and taken her to the vets, regardless of cost. There are too many people that would have just waited to see what happened.

I hope the lil mite learns a lesson, they can be lil beggers, can't they? My Angel did a similar thing when a wee pup, but with her flea collar...she was very sick, but didn't learn the lesson, and managed to do it again last summer. It was me that learnt the lesson 2nd time round - she has flea drops now! lol

Sorry to hear about your traumas Adz. You need to have eyes in the back of your head sometimes.

We can always tell when Tilly is going to chew something as she gets a certain glint in her eye. We didn't act on it on Sunday (by putting her in her cage) and she chewed my OH's glasses and my son's mouth organ in the 20 mins we were out.

Hope Ruby is ok - you will probably laugh about it in a few years.

Just heard from the vets. They did not find a razor which is great so she has either passed it or it has been put somewhere :o .
They could see chicken bone but they reckon she should pass them ok :) . They do not feel they need to open her up at the moment which is great :) .
she did however do a pooh which had horrible stuff in it :gag: so we think she is feeling poorly from the rubbish she has eaten from the bin the little devil. She should be home in a few hours  am so pleased she is ok.
Thanks for the support x

phew! glad she's OK and no need for major surgery- we had to hide the razor blades from our barmy bengal (and the toothbrushes) He was forever trying to steal them and we are extra careful about anyhting in the medicine cabinet- we dont leave anything on the side for aminute in case he or one of his furry sisters decides to investigate it. Far too curious for his own good, is Alfie. This morning, when I let the dog out to 'do what dogs do', Alfie came tearing out, (he's not supposed to but you try keeping him back when the door is opened), made a beeline for the pond and spotted the plastic water lily a neighbour had given me for a giggle (until our real one decides to honour us with flowers), He took no time at all trying to fish it out of the pond and ran back indoors with his prize...barmy bengal!

Fortunately, the daft dobermutt doesnt tend to steal things (except the biscuits I fancy having with my cuppa, if I'm not quick enough), but we cant keep her away from the sheep muck when we take her hiking in Derbyshire..and the disgusting pooh she deposits in our yard after a mouthful of sheep doodah is not pleasant. We keep her well wormed to be on the safe side...
