Has anybody tried spending euros around Devonshire Green? There's a consortium of shops around there who will accept euros and I'd be interested in anybody's experience of using them, exchange rate, ease, etc.

I've come back off hols with some euros, not enough to justify being skinned by the banks, too many to leave hanging around in a drawer.

If they hadn't done a search they would have been complaining that they had started an unnecessary new thread.

How is it topical? I don't think the Euro-zone idea got off the ground but I will stand corrected if someone knows better.

Exchange was probably about 1.50 when the thread started.

It's because the international money people knew I was on holiday so it was lowest ever whilst I was away and then went back up again when I got back.

I was wondering if it was still up and running. If it isn't it's a bit of a shame really, I'd like to think that we had something that sets us apart from everywhere else.. apart from Europe of course ;)
