Hiya all,

Sorry to rant but im really annoyed with Norwich Union and need some help.

I was employed with NU Direct, Pinfold street,Sheffield, until recently when the firm decided to annouce on the 10th December 2004 that they were offshoring 300+ jobs to India and the job i was doing would be offshored too. Richard Harvey (or mr pink shirt to us) said and I quote :-

'Aviva anticipates that approximately 80 per cent of the jobs created in India to support the UK business will be accommodated in the UK by a combination of expansion, current vacancies, anticipated staff turnover and voluntary measures. For example, in 2003 the company filled over 4500 UK vacancies that were created through natural staff turnover.

Fine I got my notice may 08th, as there internal vacancies were bad pay, unsocial hours, and learning a job that nobody wanted you to do. They decided it wasnt suitable alternative employment..i.e compulsory redunDany and as I had payment protection on my loans I thought I was coevered..

WRONG!!! - The payment protection was with (london & Edinburgh) who are Norwich Union..and now the cheeky chaps are trying to decline the claim as the have a clause in there that states they will not pay for loss of work which I became aware of within the first 90 days of the loan being taken out..

Hmmmm..lets go back to mr.pink shirts message

and yet NU (L&E) are saying I knew I was getting made redundant. Hmmm....nu the employer says you wont get made redundant..and Nu the Insurer says you should have known.

ANYWAY..sorry to ramble but I desperately need to speak to anyone who either has faced the same sort of stuff or was employed with NU and got made redundant...please send me an e-mail to nezona@yahoo.com

I might have my house repossessed if I dont get this mess sorted out soon

cheers for listening
Neil

Sorry to hear your predicament Neil but if you took out the loan after 8th May, you haven't got a leg to stand on!

You were aware of a possible impending redundancy and still went ahead and took a loan out? What makes you think you were going to be one of the 80% that got another post? You might have been one of the 20% who didn't.

I would think its different if you took it out before 8th May because at that time you weren't aware.
