Tommorrow marks the 25th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Sheffield and the death of 20 of her crew.
A parade led by the Sheffield Sea Cadets will leave City Hall at 1.50 pm and proceed to the Cathedral where a service will be held.

I was still at University when this happened, and had no idea I would end up regarding Sheffield as my home city.

It was a dreadful shock, and I still think it was an un-necessary loss.

May all those involved, and their families, find some solace in the passing of the years.

my cousin was on that ship, but was asleep at the time.

he was head chef and the scud ripped through the kitchen.

my thoughts are with the families whose loved ones didn't make it.

Can't believe 25 years has passed, I still lived in Sheffield then. Bloody horrendous, and nobody seems to have learned anything from it, that is sadder still.:(

I was in the Parson Cross hotel having a pint before moving on to town for a night of debauchery.
A mate of mine called Tivvy came in, sat down and told me the Ship had been sank.

And no doubt on Look North tomorrow night it will be ''As today marks the 25th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Sheffield we're live from Elland Road.''

My ex husband (husband at the time) was serving on another ship in the Falklands and although it was upsetting to know that HMS SHEFFIELD had gone down and some of it's crew lost it was such a relief that it wasn't my husbands ship and my young children still had their father.
My thoughts go out to the families who lost their loved ones.

I paid my respects in church on sunday thank you.

Unless I am very mistaken the word ''chuff'' did not feature in the service.
