View Full Version : Do you or did you get cramps when pregnant?
Hi, I am a few months pregnant (not sure how many yet, got to wait until 16th to find out  ) I think I am about 3 or 4 months. I keep getting sharp pains in my stomach, like little nerves pulling and when I cough or sneeze it hurts sometimes.
Is this normal? I am going to give my midwife a call in the morning but just thought I would ask on here to see if anyone else has this.
It has been happening today and I have felt quite sick today.
Henrietta 02-05-2007, 21:37 Yes, and at that stage too - its to do with your uterus growing in size and weight, and pulling on the ligaments that keep it in place within the pelvis :)
.
Thanks for that! :) I was a bit worried. I remember being told ages ago that you have no pains or should have no pains when pregnant. This was when I was alot younger  :hihi:
Glad I know what it is now, thank you!
It's nice to hear something is going on in there :)
agree with henrietta... it feels like period pains but a little stronger.. I used to panic!
I have had funny aches and pains of various descriptions all the way through. I keep my midwife informed but think sometimes its just stretching, growing, bladder/bowel issues as digestive systems slows and urinary gripes common, and baby prodding you in various organs!
Whoever told you that it should be painless has never been through the same experiences as everyone I know who's been pregnant! I can't have babies, but one comment that seems to come from everyone is that they weren't expecting early pregnancy to have so many abdominal pains coming with it.

Hey
For the past two nights i have suffered from severe cramp in my left leg.
Last night was the worse.....well i say night. It wakes me up early morning. This morning i was nearly in tears. I couldnt move, my foot was cramped up i couldnt put it down flat.
Any cures? ideas? help :help: please lol :)
ive suffered with the same problem over last few nights and was speaking to my grandma about it who said i should try rolling a cork underneath my foot when it happens - its probably an old wives tale but im willing to give anything a go!
babychickens 20-05-2007, 19:47 keeping it warm(er) might help - things often cramp when the blood supply is a bit dodgy, often in cold feet. fingers crossed...
cosywolf 20-05-2007, 20:06 Mmm...I used to get cramps and fidgety legs when pregnant, and I heard bananas could help - eating them, that is. Not sure how true it is, as it takes a lot of bananas, i.e. at one point my craving was bananas and I would get through something like 4 a day. I thought the cramps and fidgeting were better during that time, but it could have been psychological - and that's a lot of bananas for someone not craving them, lol.
BayWhitaker 21-05-2007, 08:16 Hi
Yes, I got cramps in legs too - it must be fairly common. I toook calcium pills for it - that's what they suggested at the health food shop. It seemed to help somewhat...

I read that bananas were good for that kinda thing but I can't remember what the reason was.
AstroKath 21-05-2007, 11:40 Potassium.
But don't eat too many.
Here's the trick to fixing leg cramps... as soon as you know one is imminent, gently tilt your feet upwards, i.e. heels down, toes towards your shin, to stretch your calf muscle in the right direction. If you can train yourself into doing this first thing any time you wake up during the night, eventually you'll be able to do it without thinking before a cramp hits.
It really, really works.
Thanks peeps
I have had a thought. I had the air conditioning on in the hotel both nights as i hate getting hot (which i did anyway) at night, Maybe this was the reason as my legs were directly below where it was blowing out.
last night i slept better and i didnt suffer this morning (i was back in my comfy bed)
BUT i have decided i need to overdose on calcium anyway as i havent been havin much this past week. So yoghurts and pints of milk are the top of my "wat to eat today" list along with "mcdonalds" haha (i think its my craving) lol :)
squirells 30-05-2007, 13:09 I had this too - I got a pregnancy massage last friday (at 33 weeks) and have not had it since. Have a look on myurbanbeauty.co.uk - she'll come to your house and its not really that expensive if you opt for the massage alone.
charlie9865 30-05-2007, 13:12 I get cramps in my legs anyway cos i have a condition called charcot marie tooth. So that causes cramps.
