I got an estimated gas bill this morning for £1410.01 - maybe just a very slight overestimate! Has anyone else had a similar cock up on a gas bill???

I got an "estimated" electric bill of approx £500 for being in a 2 bed flat for 3 months. Hardly a correct estimate. It turned out to be nearer £50!!! D2J 13-11-2004, 11:02 Had a dodgy phone bill once.. Had a bill for £317.90 when it should have been £31.79  Robbie Loving 13-11-2004, 11:04 Originally posted by Deejay Had a dodgy phone bill once.. Has anyone else had a similar cock up on a gas bill??? not gas and not such a cock up,about 6 years ago my son was spending the weekend at his nans, what we did'nt know was that he was using the phone after she'd gone to bed,now then the bill arrived and it stated £680.00p, god did she go barmy, she marched off down to the head office in town and demanded the bill be rectified immediatly (by the way her previous bills were never above £28.00) anyway the manager came along to explain as to why she'd got such a large bill, well she just never gave the poor bloke time to explain, she were calling hom from a dog to a pig,by this time the guy was at the end of his tether and turned round stopped her in midflow and screamed at the top of his voice "you will go ringing the sex chat lines thats why your bill is so high" she nearly died of embaeeassment, god did i laugh. unfortunatly the bill still had to be paid and guess what my lad did three paperrounds to pay it back, put him off sex chat lines for life. Friend of mine had the same about a year ago, turns out the meter reader wrote down the figures back to front... :loopy: Just phone up and provide a correct meter reading. BAZZO 13-11-2004, 17:44 Surely the best bet -if gas is going up in price -is to overestimate so you are buying at the old rate! depoix 13-11-2004, 17:46 Originally posted by Bookey Friend of mine had the same about a year ago, turns out the meter reader wrote down the figures back to front... :loopy: Just p hone up and provide a correct meter reading. NEVER pay an estimated bill,1 your doing a person out of work 2 you wouldnt pay an estimated bill at the grocers ( might be ten pound or more spuds in the bag sir ) 3 you wouldnt take 1 estimate if you were having work done on your house. its a scam...why pay for what you havent had ? Beastieboy 13-11-2004, 18:51 Not personally but a workmate of mine had an estimated gas bill of £300 and he had only just moved in to his new house four weeks ago, still awaiting the results of it. He thinks it's an unpaid bill from the last tennants but it was in his name:confused: Bookey 13-11-2004, 18:58 Originally posted by BAZZO Surely the best bet -if gas is going up in price -is to overestimate so you are buying at the old rate! No because they will work out the bill over the full time period. If the tennants changed the bill in to his name w/out his consent then the person at BG that changed it is breaking DPA thus it is in BG's intrest to let the bill go and chase the old tennents for payment as you just need to make comment about the "issue" with DPA being broken. ;) (Any get the feeling I have done this before.) :heyhey: Beastieboy 13-11-2004, 19:06 I think he is chasing it up, I would hope so anyway. There is now way i would let anybody get away with that. Bookey 13-11-2004, 19:14 Originally posted by Beastieboy I think he is chasing it up, I would hope so anyway.
