Fishing has been a major part of my life for years (excluding the last 18 months).
I would like to hear from any anglers out there. Maybe just to exchange stories (however tall they may be). Whatever the reason may be, i just want to talk.

The only fish I ever catch come in a box marked 'Birdseye'. People don't talk much at this time of night, do they?

The problem is, if you have'nt been for a few years you'll probably walk in to the tackle shop and get lost. When i went to buy my last pole i hardly knew what anything was for.

I had a 13 pounder out of the Sheffield canal a couple of years back. Not bad considering i was fishing for Perch at the time!.
Where do you go for the Pike?.

I used to go in the matches on a regular basis.

At the time I paid alot of money for the tackle. I've still got my pole that cost £1500 but that is probably chicken feed to now days.

I dread to think how much it will cost me to replace the gear i sold. My missus's uncle owns a tackle shop in Sheffield but i dare not even ask him for any prices!

Remeber the Golden rule .. Keep it simple :-)

I fish messingham sands quite a bit .

This is the first year i've had going through the winter . Even though it's getting colder i'm still catching . Best of all sometimes you get the whole place to yourself :-)

A friend of mine has had a 4lb chub out near meadowhall . And believe it or not , I've had a 3lb bream out :-)

I have had Bream to 3lb, Chub to 3 1/2lb, Grayling to 2lb, Roach to 1 1/2lb and Trout to 3lb. All from Salmon Pastures. A little further down (don't know the name) we have had some great night fishing with loads of Chub, Roach, Dace and Trout.
I know there are some Barbel around as well but i've yet to hook in to one.

I agree. Where i used to go on the canal there is a warm water pipe going in. If you can get there first thing in the morning with just bread flake on a size 8, Your in!. The biggest i've had is about 10lb but i have seen much bigger.

dont know which side of town you are in but the river DON was fishing really well before we had last months storms and rain..had a few trout over the pound mark, pound and half perch, the odd grayling and a few small jack pike, rumour had it there was a seven pound barbel caught in the wear up by beely woods, every time we passed there was always a couple of anglers with good set ups fishing the pool but the gales brought a tree down into the pool

I've never heard of Beely woods but i suspect that if Barbel were caught it must be up Hillsborough way. As for the tree. i'd see it as an oppourtunity and just go heavy on the line i used, especially in flood conditions. I have often found on the Don that the fish get really brave just after a flood.

NEW QUESTION!:
What and where is your most memorable fishing experiences?.

Mine was on the Arbourthorne pond, YES.. Arbourthorne pond!. Me and my fishing partner at the time went up every night for a week with only a couple of loaves of bread and bagged up EVERY night with Tench (my favourite fish). On the second night we had to put an extra bank stick in to stop the keepnet being pulled in.

A close second has to be Frechville a couple of years ago. There were three of us going up regularly and bagging up on Tench again using pellet.
OHH.. sod this i'm off to buy some new gear!!:D

Sod the carp . Mine was catching a 6lb chub at borowash . Now 6 is damn good . But what made it better was the fact that i was a total novice and caught it on my friends pole after he lost about 5 of them :-)

Thought i'd tell you how i got into Fishing :-) ...

When i was a kid not so long ago . Cough ... My dad used to take me golfing . So i never had the father son fishing trip ..

Well apart from an hour at underbank

Anyway . The reason i started was . A bunch of us went camping one weekend and my mate took all his tackle . So there was a pond on the camp site . All the locals called it the dead pond . Stuffed with carp but never caught .

To cut a long story short . Huckleberry fin here caught a gudgeon on a twig , a bit of line and a hook tied on granny knot style

My friend caught sod all :-) ... And there you have it .

Have you ever done night fishing . Now thats fun . Well should be . I'm cursed . Three times i've done it . and three times there has been the biggest thunder storm known to man .

But saying that . It is a totally different world ...Especially eating cooked sausage covered in insects under an umbrella .

Take this for example . We used to fish borowash every saturday without fail .. Fish were Chubb , dace , small barbel , roach and the odd trout .

We went night fishing and all we caught were skimmers . And i swear in two years of fishing not one of us had one in the normal 5am - 6pm trips ... Strange or what

nothing better than a spot of night fishing on the trent near the A1 pits and seeing my mate cast in not once but twice and seeing his mobile phone drop into the edge
you'd think that after the first time he would have learnt his lesson

best experience 15lb 8 oz mirror carp at harthill

heard that the DON is fishing really well up near the prison barbel up to 10lb

I was at Messingham in the summer and this bloke had his pole dragged into the middle of the lake . it was going back and forth for nearly half an hour . How it didn't sink i'll never know . Anyway , Someone managed to get a line round it and pull it in . The bloke says " Carefull mate there's a descent carp on it "

You know whats coming next :-)

The man gets the pole in and whats on the end . A skimmer no more than 12oz . Lol ...

Well, enjoy your fishing while you can. I've got a horrible feeling that now hunting's banned, shooting and fishing will become the new targets of the animal rights movement...

There is a thread already started about this and i think the overall conclusion is that it would never happen!.
