My long term favourites have included :

Bloom County
Far Side
Dilbert

Bloom County because it was just so.....cute. I particularly liked Opus the Penguin and his requirement for Dandilion Breaks when the world got too much; Cutter John and his wheelchair impersonating the Starship Enterprise; the sexist pig Steve Dallas.

Far Side - just weird! Cows having nightmares about 'The Golden Arches' (Think about the symbol of a certain burger chain); Deer with target shaped birthmarks; Schoolkids who ask to be excused ecause their brain is full; and lots of weird stuff about ducks....

Dilbert. It's a geek thing.

I have to have two honourable mentions; the venerable Garfield and Steve Bell's 'If....'

I loved Dilbert before I started working at <deleted for security reasons> and it all became far too real. Other than that my highly recomended are The Far Side and Clavin and Hobbes :)

I recently worked with a large bank.....

It was scary as far as Dilbert is concerned...very scary....even down to having a pointy haired manager and the equivalent of Loud Claude...:)

I have a soft toy Dilbert 'head' which when dropped utters a 'Dilbertism'. It was amazing how often the phrase 'I'm surrounded by idiots' came up...

Have you ever owned a beagle? every strip has an element of their personality! He's so cool.

I'd forgotten about Calvin and Hobbes!

I think that the Far Side stuff had the most impact on me because I keep remembering some of the cartoons. Quite why I'm not sure - possibly the fact that I write means I look for 'weird possibilities' in images that I see - can they trigger a story, for example - and some of teh Far Side cartoons, being so open ended, often do that for me.

In Dilbert I just love the garbage man...

We seem to have given houseroom to our very own 'Dogbert'. Apparently Dogbert was modelled on a beagle that Scott Adams once knew. Bossy little souls, they are!
