:D Hello there,i would advice taking it to proper dealers i know its dear but many mechanics can have a look but end of the day they dont have the same eequipment the dealers do,or you could try snuff mill garage off eccelsall road i know there good,or maybe even get an electrician to plug it in like AK auto electrical,we use them at work n he is pretty good.

No expert with BMWs, but think they use 2 knock sensors which control fuel/air mixture. I wonder if one of those has failed?

It could also be something as simple as back pressure from an exhaust that's about to blow
You don't say why the ECU was changed, and obviously there could be some connection there.
I'm still going with my original theory of a failed knock sensor as the most likely cause though.
I hope you'll let us know what was wrong when it gets sorted.
