Can anyone advise how I can “automatically” arrange my mp3 files in alphabetical order (in a folder within) the documents folder. They are in alphabetical order up to a point, meaning that all the individual letters of the alphabet are together- all the As all the Bs and so on. However, all tracks beginning with “Y” for example (although also all together) are at the beginning of the list, while the tracks beginning with “A” for example will be somewhere near the end of the list.

Not a case of OCD, but it is nice to be able to swiftly select tracks as and when required. The strange thing is that all the music video files (single tracks) are all in order in their respective folder right through the alphabet.

For the record, the type of “view” I am using is “list”, and swapping between the thumbs, tiles or icon view does not rectify the issue.

Thank you in advance to anyone who may be able to advise accordingly.

So are you saying that the list is in order, but reverse alphabetical order? If you are in list view, right-click on any whitespace in the right-hand pane, and select Arrange Icons By -> Name.

This will sort alphabetically by name, and clicking again will reverse the sort order.

Be aware though that this sorting may be disrupted when new files are added, and you may need to resort.

Alternatively, view them in "details" and click on the column headers to choose/update different sortings.

Thank you to both of you for your help. I tried the first method and it worked straight away. A great time-saver, much appreciated:thumbsup:
