we had one for years comming on our street you could get cigs off him cans a lager and sometimes we even bought the kids an icecream:D not seen any sign of him for about 2 years..don't they drive around estates like they used too.....

On most estates they'd need their vans reinforcing by the A-team.

Our ice-cream man was called 'knobnose'. Not by his parents, of course. He had a nose like the Spitting Image puppets.

He was always offering you his nuts, with extra sticky sauce.

Maybe that's why he hasn't been seen for a few years.

They're still there...Manor/ Arbourthorne: plays Greensleeves, comes round in dead of winter, prob'ly isn't only selling ice cream, lol. Heeley/Meersbrook: plays Popeye, comes round every day over summer and drives the dog mad. Come to think of it, haven't seen one in Norfolk Park for a while...usually Granellis.

The van around our area plays teddy bears picnic.... not the Bad Manners cover version though.:suspect:

I once knew a bloke that went round the university campuses and delt weed out of the back of the van - great idea!!! haahaa!!

Yes where we are at crookes in the summer theres about three of them..in winter it drops down to one, mind you he allways seems to wake up the baby in the evenings parking right outside our house and letting his rather loud tune play for ages (not that i am a victor meldrew or anything)
