<£300.
DVD Burner, 1.4Ghz Celeron, 512MB RAM, 15.4" screen.
That's really quite amazing.
Actually, that is a really good price for a branded item.
The laptop market seems to have really dropped within these past few years!
Its a shame the battery life lets it down....
but look what you can get for £50 more..

Its a shame thats a small screen!
Mine is similar to that HP one. The prices have certainly dropped since Core 2 Duo came out. 15 inch screen is not too bad considering it's a wide-screen. Plus for 2.7kg, where will you find this kind of light, mid-market laptop for this pricing???

yeah, but sadly that one runs Vista Home BASIC - i'd rather just have XP Home and save £50.

I'm in the market for a lappy as well, but am not prepared to accept Vista.
I just rang e-buyer to ask if they could ship with XP instead of the advertised Vista.
Sadly, No. They can only ship as advertised.
I think you can find another supplier that may do so.
Well, you need to get in the game quick before it's all changed ti Vista, or maybe go with a lower spec machine instead? I noticed that, the OS are now preinstalled and shipped from the manufacturer itself. So, I guess you do need to shop around and find some model numbers then ask around the place for them.

Why is that? Is Vista quite unstable?
