For anyone that may be interested, here are the arrangements:
The funeral of Emlyn Hughes is to take place in Sheffield Cathedral at 12.00 noon on Wednesday, 17th November 2004. The Dean of Sheffield, Very Revd Peter Bradley, will lead the service.
Everyone is welcome at this thanksgiving for Emlyn Hughes' life.
In place of flowers, mourners are asked to make a donation to the Emlyn Hughes Cancer Appeal at Weston Park Hospital. Donations should be sent to John Heath and Sons, 2-16 Earsham Street, S4 7LS.
The Dean of Sheffield commented, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Emlyn's wife Barbara, and his two children Emma and Emlyn Junior."
"He was a much-loved figure throughout the country, in particular in the City of Liverpool. After retiring, he came to Sheffield and received the same adoration - for his boundless enthusiasm and the way he helped the people of South Yorkshire with his tireless charitable work. We are honoured to be holding this service in Sheffield Cathedral," he added today.
The service will include Emlyn's favourite hymns and a tribute from a fellow Liverpool player.
A book of condolence is available in the Cathedral
