Try "The Mars Volta" for amazing progressive guitar-based escapism.
It's nowhere near understandable, but if you're persistant, their music becomes beautiful. They have an LP called "De-loused in the Comatorium", dedicated to, and all about, their "departed" artist friend.

Their previous musical incarnation was At The Drive-In. Also amazing.

Jane's Addiction have a new LP out. Yes, Perry Farrell is still alive

im becoming a fan of white stripes and their songs sound great turned up very loud in the car but ive always liked muse, radiohead and the mighty manic street preachers. If im not in a rock mood i listen to delta goodrem, neptunes and all associates, and i went through a spandau ballet phase a few years ago and have their albums.

Perry Farrell is alive and kicking and the new Jane's album is fantastic. He has been busy since JA first spilt up with two P4P albums, 1 solo album plus loads of other projects (not to mention Lollapolooza!).

Don't know if you already know about it but there's a punk forum run by no-rules, who also promotes/organises most of the punk gigs in Sheffield. You can find it here (http://www.no-rules.co.uk) - just click on the skull and there's a link to the forum on the main page!!
