Don't have the time to sit around playing video games. Once upon a time, I used to have this time available to indulge on the PS2, but that is a distant memory.

I play that on the pc but really wanting to check it out on the xbox 360, ive seen a few screenies and it looks fantastic. How much does it cost you play it online, its free on the pc. I used to play WoW too but got bamboozled with all the skils you can have like the fishing etc, I might start playing it again but id like to try out the new expansion for it aswell. I think my missus is wanting to play it aswell as some of her mates are on one of the servers.

C & C Generals Zero hour and I also play Guildwars/Factions/Nightfall online too

I have the first Guildwars but no expansions. There is a Guild Wars 2 on the horizon too.

I wonder what proportion of men who play PC games have never had a girlfriend?

I'm not a bloke but I do play games on the PC (yes, even first person shooters, how dare I!) so I guess you're not bothered what I'm into anyway.

I havenot been single in about 10 years so I wouldnt know what its like to play computer games as a single person. Maybe you can tell me?

Me and Liz for example share the desktop pc, I use my laptop for when she is on it and when she comes off I play battlefield 2 or games like the Sims 2 to help bypass the time cus msn gets tedious and no one seems to chat about anything interesting. Also hearthshaped1 I am interested in what games you play if you wanna say, I said blokes because by the time i could edit to say people it was too late.

I've been playing Aces High (http://www.hitechcreations.com) for nearly 6 years (on and off).

It's a WWII massively multiplayer online flight simulator. The attention to detail is astounding (and symptomatic of the WWII warbird enthusiasts, who both play and create the game).

It's a small 'family' business too, and doesn't suffer from the odious corporatism that infected warbirds.

It's not for everyone - it's very hard to begin with, your first air to air victory could take months.

You can download the game and play in the 8 player arenas, in perpetuity, for free. Or you can pay the $15 a month and join in the Main Arenas, where 3-400 pilots flying for three 'countries' duke it out in the skies.

The variety of planes is astounding, including a couple of secret weapons of the Luftwaffe and plenty of variants of popular aircraft (p51, Spitfire, P47, Fw190, Bf109 etc). All the planes have quite different handling characteristics and you soon find out which ones are for boom and zoom, and which are for furballing.

Add to that a whole set of strategic targets and a hangar full of heavy and medium bombers, a mission editor, dozens of online squadrons to join, a complete set of ground vehicles, amphibious vehicles, PT boats, carriers and cruisers (with 8" guns!), and you get a endlessly varying and challenging game.

Just occasionally you will end up in a dogfight with an well matched opponent with equal energy. That's when a 3 minute turnfight seems to take 15 minutes - as you stretch you hand-eye coordination and visiospatial awareness to new levels.

Newcomers may find the graphics quite basic, in comparison to something like IL2 Sturmovik (the IL2 is available in Aces High), but that is quite a deliberate decision - to keep your framerates high when there are 30-40 other aircraft within your airspace.

Also, in air combat, you don't really worry about realistic looking trees, as you're usually thousands of feet above them.

I could go on, and on.

I am a casual gamer at best. But do quite like them as some of the games now are either good "round with your mates games" like Pro Evo which can be fun or some RPG/1st person games that are like epic movies like Max Payne, Oblivion, Half Life to mention a few.

However, my first love is football and actually playing it. Sunday league, Five a side and also keeping fit and healthy so I feel I enjoy best of both worlds. I was tempted to buy an XBOX 360 this week but I feel I would rather save that towards my travelling year fund.

But I wouldn't like to think I was pushing 30 and the only thing I had in my life was gaming and the only memories I had was completing Gears of War on extra hard setting compared to seeing the sights of the world and broadening my mind.

I use a joystick, but a few of the top ranking pilots use their mouse for flight control. It takes some getting used to, but a good mouse offers better precision over flightstick. (unless you opt for one of the slightly more expensive HOTAS setups on the market).

If you can master simulated flight, and enjoy it, this game is excellent.

I used to use joysticks all the time back when I played on the Speccy in the 80s. In more recent years I've tried several joysticks for PC games and have had a right job finding one that actually worked on my pooter! :loopy:

Have to say I find games totally mind numbing personally and while I accept many do enjoy playing them I think spending to much time playing is quite unhealthy phisically (ie better to be doing sport or something) and mentally (its hardly developing your social skills is it)

I used to be into Star trek, War of the worlds and Populous but I dont play them much now.
The other half is always on the comp playing various online games and if someone posts one on the forum, I usually save it to favourites for her to have a go at.
There are about 20 games that she plays now and the number rises all the time, shes turning into a real hard core gamer :D

My partner plays Battlefield 2 on the PC most of the time when he isn't at work, he's just got a new mod for it (forgot what its called) I sometimes have a go. He also plays COD2 and Warhammer. He's got S.T.A.L.K.E.R coming in a couple of days.

I don't mind him playing games, keeps him out of my way :hihi:

I guess that depends on the girlfriend and the relationship you have.. ;)

Possibly Project Reality.

Mostly World of warcraft

I used to play WoW but I got bored looking for the black lion, I cant play it anymore tho as liz has all our money paid into her account these days so its difficult to make sure the 8.99 or whatever it is is there every month.

I'd like to know what the new add on is like for it, do u have it?

I have played City of Heroes and City of Villains which are kind of its main stream rivals at the moment and they're great, im into stuff like that you get to make your own superhero or superheroine and plus its the only time I could wear pants on the outside without getting funny looks :hihi:

Rahven
29-05-2007, 13:22
Black lion? Not sure I've come across that. You don't have to pay for wow by direct debit btw - you can buy pre-paid gametime cards from shops like 'Game'... just a thought ;)
The new expansion, The Burning Crusade is pretty cool. It doesn't take long to level to maximum (now 70) but there is soooo much stuff you can do once you're there, and along the way.
Not played the 'City of' games - would you recommend them? They're free to play online aren't they?

Nutronic
29-05-2007, 13:28
No the City of are £8.99 a month but works out cheaper if u pay 44.99 for 6 months, unlike WoW though if u by the british you will only play with the brits not yanks.

The lion is Humar the Pridelord, i tried to find it with my Dwarf Hunter but couldnt....http://www.thottbot.com/c5828 I think he only spawns at certain times.

PvP is also ace on WoW when you se ethe enemies that is, damn undead going invisible all the time

The updates are HUUUUUUGE but are worth it like the most recent thing, they are worthwhile. They have a new inventions system and that looked pretty cool. I took part in the beta and before I left I saw many new things such as an arena for pvp some new costume designs had been put in place a new "veterans" system was also added where the longer you stay the more "gifts" you get like wings and other random gear.....you need to play it really to get what im saying lol.

true but i guess its gonna be a long time before the PS4 is released or even drawn up for that matter. Im looking forward to GTA4 which is out in a few months i cant wait to see it in the shops, ive seen the HD trailer and its just amazing.

Unless it picks up soon might not even be a ps4 as this rate, its hardly makeing waves, but give it a few more months, and the real games should start to roll out, (

( that with the bonus of a price drop thats is said to kick in sometime after summer or just before xmas )

mind the 360 might be in the situation at the time to drop a Core to about £119 - £129 and with sony looking to drop the ps3 to about £300 - £325.. and no doubt the wii will still be sold out in shops and selling for £179 or whatever it is..

Still a huge diffrence to the Ave Joe on the street, they need to get something right and sharpish..

360 has its problems yes " Rings of Death " ETC but that extra year it had on the street gave it a hugh advantage over the ps3, and the fact MS left out the HD-DVD or a Blue Ray out the console, and the cheaper chipset.. it means no matter what sony do with price cuts MS can just under cut them.

Now im going to go before i start sounding to much like the Uber geek :D

Nutronic
29-05-2007, 14:30
lol!

With the rings of death is it a matter of go buy another or send it back to |\/|$?

SaveUK
29-05-2007, 14:41
aye 12 months you get with shop you got it from / M$ for the rings of death so show up

best thing to do is get to 11 months sell it on ebay or whereever and get a new one with the money, hopefully when the new style chip starts getting used in the 360 it wont happen as much.

but this is M$ we are talking here Oo

Ive started to see little ads in shop windows selling the 360 for £230 - £250 and wondered why, obviously this is why.
