Adieu Registry Office. It was there last week, now gone in a flash.

Quite a neat little building really. Nothing particularly outstanding about, it was a child of its time, other than it being circular!

How many other circular buildings are there? There's the David Mellor cutlery factory in Hathersage (http://www.davidmellordesign.com/manufacturingprocess.html). I don't think the Roundhouse counts though ;)

I understand Mellors at Hathersage was built on the base of a gasometer (round). V elegant building innit.

I know Sheffield built a lot of crappy buildings in the 50's 60's and 70's but this is one I'm going to miss.

It looked stupid and i for one am glad that weddings have now been moved to a more suitable home.

Err, what about those who don't want a religious ceremony and don't want to pay through the nose to get married in another civil venue?

I think you'll also find that getting married is not about how attractive the venue is. If it really matters that much, there's a good chance you're getting married for the wrong reasons.

It may not of been the most atractive place but as Angel said getting married isn't all about the venue. It will be a sad day when everyone is more concerned by the venue.

Judging from the last 3 weddings I have been to, that day is here.

I always thought the builing to be unusual and easy on the eye externally and very pleasant internally.
Sheffield has lost a building of character.
