Help,

I'm after a copy of a book that published in 1970 - 80 looking at the history of the little mesters, I think it was published by the university.

it had my grandad in it, George Sadler, who worked in a little workshop above the Old Saddle Inn on West Street, next to Eric Wragg.

I had a copy but have lost it and would love to get a copy back so I can show my kids, (they never got to see my grandad)

I can't remember the name of it, but hope someone can help

cheers

Hello jockey and welcome to the forum.

Do any of these titles (http://www.shef.ac.uk/hawley/project/publications.html) ring a bell? These are the University publications.

If not you can always email Joan Unwin - she's assisted me with information on a few occasions and is very helpful.

I think it's great that you want to pass the information on to your children - I'm in a similar position. Good Luck finding the book. :)

Hi Steve

I believe you would be interested in the book ' Sheffield's Traditional Craftsmen ' by Valerie Answer. The book has a chapter concerning your Grandfather George, there are also a couple of pictures of George.
The chapter on your Grandfather contains a reference to my maternal Grandfather Thomas Robinson who lived on Gleadless Road, close to George who I believe lived on Jeffrey Street, although I could be wrong about that.
As a child I remember Elsie and her son David, who lived on Jeffrey Street.
Was Elsie George's daughter ? I was at Newfield School with David 1958 -63.
