What? the place near Halfords where the petrol station used to be? swordfish1 24-04-2007, 15:32 Well, whether or not any were illegal immigrants will have to be seen. If any were, there should be quite a few posters on here with egg on their faces after the "there can't be any, it's on a main road!!" statements that were aired last time this place was mentioned. I'm personally not saying I do or don't think they were illegals, it's just that the above statement was a stupid point to make. newfgreen 24-04-2007, 15:47 Someone posted a topic on here that they were suspicious about this the other month. fox20thc 24-04-2007, 15:51 I seem to recall prior to that they 'allegedly' employed kids cash in hand, much like many other carwash services nationwide  No different just a change in the market, scrotes are too good for car washing these days - so somebody else filled the gap in the market. Not that I agree with it but there wouldn't be such a 'curfuffal' about it if it was dole "bludgers nabbed for cash in hand antics." Alx400 24-04-2007, 18:19 hmm seems interesting as my cousin yous't to work their before they had illegal imigrants, but now every car wash place like this seems to have them, easy money. craftyone 24-04-2007, 19:28 they dont only wash cars there though , they sell cars, there might have been something a bit fishy going on with that. i have took my car there a few times but i wont go again cause they were rubbish and ignorant and never smiled or said thank you when they snatched your money out of your hand. :suspect: bhoy 25-04-2007, 01:16 i made some calls you need to get a life pal :hihi: sees police at a car wash and makes some calls :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: Serendipity1 25-04-2007, 09:33 Someone posted a topic on here that they were suspicious about this the other month. It was me the other month, Cant find the link tho lol Sorry? Ive drove past late at night and seen them all sat inside at about 12 oclock watching TV at night ! They live there as well as work there! And yes it was the classic "Its on a main road they cant be that obvious" Its called a double bluff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like someone did make a complaint!!!!! Good on Them! sjw1705 25-04-2007, 09:55 Can't have been too bad cos they are open as usual today?? bus man 25-04-2007, 10:24 It was only a matter of time: the ones in the north of the city were raided a few months ago looking for illegal immigrants etc. $crewdriver 25-04-2007, 10:46 They used to raid parkway markets for them in the 1990's nowt changes does it lalaland 25-04-2007, 11:45 Could have been an upset customer. I went there the other day and they did a rather poor job on my car. I won't be going back. Bring back the one at the end of Peniston Road :( ricky36 25-04-2007, 11:49 Could have been an upset customer. I went there the other day and they did a rather poor job on my car. I won't be going back. Bring back the one at the end of Peniston Road :( cannot be done the place is a car sales pitch now lalaland 25-04-2007, 11:57 I know. I just need to find a decent place again. cgksheff 25-04-2007, 13:22 http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/news?articleid=2727511 SIX suspected failed asylum seekers have been arrested as part of a police crackdown on illegal immigrants working at car washes across South Yorkshire. The men - four Iraqis and two Iranians - were arrested when police swooped on a car wash on Queens Road, close to the junction of Chesterfield Road. Their employer, a British citizen, was arrested on suspicion of knowingly employing illegal workers. .............. Bring back the one at the end of Peniston Road :( werent you wickling on another place about eccleshall road it is penistone road not peniston lalaland 25-04-2007, 13:54 No, I'm the one that made a comment and in the same post apologised and explained why I put it. I also included a smiley to show my post was in humour rather than a dig but sadly some people jumped on it and took a thread(s) off topic  swordfish1 25-04-2007, 13:58 My Suspicions were Correct Then!!!! I knew i was right, and people questioned me saying i was rascist!!! You make me laff them people! Pity the other thread was erased. You could have asked them for apologies :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: As I've said earlier on this thread, the comment more than one person made that they couldn't employ illegals because it was on a main road was plain stupid. Wonder how many keep quiet now?? Serendipity1 25-04-2007, 14:22 I know people kept saying on the previous post, "If they are making a living then their not harming anybody" But in a way they are affecting other business, for instance The CAr wash futher down Queens Road! Theyeve had to reduce their prices! And there perfectly legit! lalaland 25-04-2007, 14:23 Do they do a good job? Serendipity1 25-04-2007, 14:26 Yeah they do its two blokes who shampoo your car then the machine does all the work! No chance of the machine being ilegal lol sjw1705 25-04-2007, 14:48 So if they've been arrested how come they are still operating today? Shouldn't it have been closed down or summat?? lalaland 25-04-2007, 15:21 Yeah they do its two blokes who shampoo your car then the machine does all the work! No chance of the machine being ilegal lol I'm cautious of machines though, the Tesco station on Abbeydale Road have a machine that damaged my car :( rach108 02-05-2007, 22:35 There's one at the bottom of Ecclesall road. Apparently it's run by 'Dave and Julie'. Their prices went up late last year due to 'VAT'. I asked for a VAT recipt but got a hand written stub signed by 'Julie'. Has to be said though, they do a corking job on the car. lalaland 03-05-2007, 15:23 I just used the one at Meadowhead, the machine on by the Norton pub. I paid for the 'ultimate wash', which is the top one. It was an ultimate farce. The windows and front of the vehicle still have flies stuck and the passenger window still has a mark on it. The wheels aren't clean in the gaps and it looks like it's had a 5 minute mop up with a bucket and sponge. That's another on my avoidance list. I'll try the one at the bottom of Ecclesall Road next, thanks :) lubylou 03-05-2007, 17:08 werent you wickling on another place about eccleshall road it is penistone road not peniston It is ecclesall road NOT eccleshall :hihi: SUPERTYKE 04-05-2007, 15:26 I was next to this car wash in a queue of traffic the other week - some young school girls were subjected to a stream of comments, clearly sexual and totally inappropriate, (the girls were no more than thirteen possibly younger). I found myself glaring at the guy nearest me - not wise but just a reaction. It didn't appear to me to be the best way of endearing themselves to a host nation - but then we're such a soft touch that they must feel they can get away with anything. lalaland 04-05-2007, 15:39 The comments you witnessed being made sound like they are more to do with the individual making them and not really a sign that every imigrant would make them. I know you aren't insinuating that, but there are some on this site that would put this person's nationality not being British with the fact that they made those comments when that shouldn't be the case. SUPERTYKE 08-05-2007, 10:20 The comments you witnessed being made sound like they are more to do with the individual making them and not really a sign that every imigrant would make them. I know you aren't insinuating that, but there are some on this site that would put this person's nationality not being British with the fact that they made those comments when that shouldn't be the case. Maybe, but it was ALL of them making comments - whooping etc. And I get the feeling it is a way of expressing contempt generally. Of course - I would HATE to offend these poor men. Wouldn't want to put them off coming here, especially as the French are reopening their Chunnell Express waiting room. Pig2Pugs 08-05-2007, 11:49 LalaLand, if no one can wash a car to your standards then WASH IT YOURSELF! Geeeezz. lalaland 08-05-2007, 11:52 I don't really have the space and often time to do so. There have been people that did a good job, but sadly the place closed and now these other places appear to do rather poor jobs. My search continues. |
