Defo - the one's from Sean's at Banner Cross. Yum.

However, the best bakers have to be Staniforths, just for their tag line "The Master Bakers". Genius. The old ones are the best!

Lily's at hillsborough do a mean Pork sarnie (on an oven bottom cake) - not had one for years and the thought is making my mouth water.

The butchers at the corner of School Road and Crookes does a delicious one.....mmmmmmmmm.

A rep who occasionally visits Sheffield told me she always stops at Lily's to buy a pork sandwich. Must be good - wish I lived near there to sample it. You've made my mouth water thinking about the subject.

Is seans the one with the brown shop front? If so then that's definitely the best that I've tried - pork, dripping, apple sauce, crackling - superb!

I regularly go there on Saturdays for a hangover cure!

Roneys' for definate - superb!

Beres and Crawshaws definately, whenever I'm in Hillsborough I'll call at one of those two!

Same ppl have also got a shop next to the Tesco's on Herries Road. They are quite nice.

my missis worked in roney's before we took the pub.....she was there about 4 years and i always got a sarnie when i was working in that area so i'd have to go with them being the best..and free.

btw even though she don't work there i still get mi sarni when i'm passing but i have to pay now:| well worth it though:thumbsup:

King's Pork Shop near Castle Market - £1.80 and they stuff it so damn full i think one's enough for two people. that's the only one i go to and they seem to sell out quite quickly too.

I used to religiously pop in for one every Saturday Morning when I lived in Hillsborough.

Shame I have now moved .... Any recommendations on where to get a quality pork sandwich in Nether Edge / Brincliffe ??

I seem to be asking a lot of questions like this lately, anyone would think South Yorkshire was a different country! What is it with all the pork sandwich shops (the ones that just do pork)? Not complaining because they are really nice but I didn't even know there was such a thing till I moved here! So are they a sheffield thing?

lillys and beres are the places I would visit for a quality sarnie.. but lillys breadcakes are the best, they really add to the overall taste of the sandwich no matter whats on it... yummers !!

beres are not bad but they use a meat slicer its not parma ham you know

Best pork (and bacon for that matter!) sandwiches ive come across are from the Butchers at meadowhead.

I really couldnt compliment them enough on their sarnies!

Delisush on Glossop Road are probably the worse - they also use a meat slicer to cut the pork - it's not the same, is it? :o

What about Funks on Hillsborugh?

[i always got a sarnie when i was working in that area so i'd have to go with them being the best..and free.

I think I have had a sarnie from there before, mind it was a long time ago but I think it was quite good. Big think lumps of juicy pork and I think the apple sauce was homemade too!

the best sandwich shop by far is Charlies in Sharrow. The old gent in there is a real crowd pleaser too. its like going back in time shop-wise but i dare anyone to find better service and a better buttie than there.

Crawshaws in Hillsborough is better, you'll find it in Hillsborough precinct facing morrisons.

My mum works next door to it in the NHS offices. Needless to say she enjoys her dinner hour :P

Sadly, I MUST disagree with you there! I bought one of their so called LEGENDARY pork sandwiches - which actually cost a whopping £2.80, on a smallish breadcake and the pork was all in bits. I complained and I was told that I was the first ever to complain!
They said that they could not manage to slice the pork into slices because the pork was sliced straight after cooking.
Well, I went to Beres and asked them how they manage to slice their pork into slices and they said that it was not at all difficult to do, so long as the meat hadn't been over cooked and the meat slicer (if used) had a very sharp blade to slice it correctly.
I'm sorry, but RONY'S is NOT a good pork sandwich and the price is outragious for a sandwich with torn or mashed up pork in it! - BERES is so much better and the price is excellent!
Apparently, those that sell pork sandwiches with torn or mashed up pork not slices, either aren't carving it correctly with a sharp blade or over cooking it OR and it's a BIG OR, they want the pork to go further.

The BEST EVER pork sandwiches I have ever tasted were from a chinese butchers type shop on London Rd (1980's) - they used to soak their pork in brine prior to cooking the joint.
The other was a butchers shop known as Wenenger's (in the 1970's,) which used to be on the corner with Chippinghouse Rd/Abbeydale Rd.

Ditto to that one! Has anyone tried the Bellybuster ones on glossop road, absolutley HUGE!! never had a sarnie so big, like a dustbin lid. Cost about £3 and there must have been half a pig on it, not the best pork sarnie aroune but certainly the biggest!
