View Full Version : Police Government Disposal Auctions?
cheaky_monkey 27-07-2003, 20:11 i overheard someone the other day talking about an auction they had been to somewhere in sheffield that sells items that have been repossessed - apparently they have some really good items that sell for cheap prices like TV'c , hifi's and many more things of value at cheap prices -
does anyone know how i can find out more information about these auctions?? or if there are any in Sheffield and where they are??

Have a look at http://www.government-auctions.co.uk/ for more info.
That site looks less like a governmet site than any I've seen. I'd be very wary! :suspect:
neeeeeeeeeek 10-04-2005, 21:04 That site looks well dodgy! http://www.bumblebeeauctions.co.uk/ auctions are aparently where they sell stuff but it's always crap when ever I have looked!

Auctions for what exactly..?
codeman_cas 14-05-2005, 21:58 every now and then police do an auction where as they sell the stuff that hasnt been recovered from watchs to cars at very very cheep prices.
yeah they sell of the old cop cars too!! it was on traffic cops one day when a lad had boght one and had not insured it.. imagine being stupid enough to buy a ex cop car (they knew it was cop car because of certain marks!) and not insure it!!!
There is an auction of such property at Bawtry (motor) Auctions.
Or at least there used to be.!
I seem to remember it was once a month, but i may be wrong with the frequency of them.
You will have to ring them to find out exactly what the current situation is. I dont know if what was property just from the Doncaster area or county wide.
However what I do remember was that the "goods" were generaly poor quality. No better than you would find at a car boot and more expensive when the auction house puts their costs on top.
And the de-commisioned police cars get sold off through motor auctions at Leeds..!
beansforyou 16-05-2005, 08:15 Motorcycle Auctions (stolen/recovered etc) are held every third wednesday in Bawtry, I rang them up, and it is touch & go wether they are having any more, as they aren't getting enough bikes in!
Surely thats a good thing right? lol

I don't think the question has ever been answered though.
Bumblebee auctions includes several police forces, but not SY... So where do they auction stuff off?
alchresearch 08-08-2006, 11:50 Friday's Manchester Evening News usually lists auctions, including police ones. If I pick up a copy on Friday I'll post the details, or ask your newsagent to order you a copy.
oasismark 08-08-2006, 12:28 all they sell i bikes
Every thursday night about 6pm at bautry (i know i have spelt it wrong)
sharkster 08-08-2006, 13:23 I know people who have gone and they said its not that good, all the better stuff go for about a quid less than you can get 2nd hand/Ebay etc and most of its *****e crappy junk.
pinklady 18-04-2007, 11:49 Ive heard that the police auction off all the stolen goods they've recouped that havent been traced back to the rightful owner. Does anyone know where any of these auctions take place?
Mentalmomma 18-04-2007, 11:51 Isn't it somewhere near main Police station in town or even at that Depot.
There was a thread about it a while ago...
Bawtry auctions for general stuff is not there anymore although the car auctions is still there

See! (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=63693)
ratdaddy 09-08-2008, 06:58 When I spoke to a Copper a year ago about a bomb washed up from the Don
he informed me that to buy any of the gear that I was drooling over I would have to bid for it on Bumblebee auction,
Aparently its easy, but you can only collect the items, but it does tell you the police station that the items are stored at,
They may only put items on once a month, so if theres no items listed by a local station, keep looking each week
Due to a low poster I cant give the web address, so just Google Bumblebee auction and you will find it at the top of the page
Last time I checked SYP didn't use bumblebee.
There's some items listed for collection at Ecclesfield.
ratdaddy 09-08-2008, 07:11 Last time I checked SYP didn't use bumblebee.
OK, maybe not now? things do change.
ratdaddy 09-08-2008, 07:14 call in at attercliffe nick and I am sure they will tell where to look
