Aargh!
I havn`t had a cigarette since friday night and I am now an evil cow!
I am coping with the cravings quite well, as soon as I want a fag I have been doing silly little jobs to take my mind off it, and up to now its working.
I am determined not to go and buy any fags, and at the minute don`t have a patch on, but I really can`t handle my temper, its vile!
what can I do to take the rage away?:help:
all help very gratefully received(especially by my other half)

I have now been a non-smoker for 4 months nearly & I had been smoking for 25 years & was n 30 a day. You can do it. I work at NGH & as it was banned from there it helped. I also stopped whilke I was in hospital having surgery so couldn't get out of bed for a day.
I took up knitting, so if you know how to knit get knitting if you don't nows the time to learn. You are so eager to see your project finished & don't want to stop mid row it takes your mind of it.
I would like to point out I still fancy a fag even now, but won't hve one as I don't want t go back to the first few days of stopping again. I remember wanting to kill a little old man for taking too long to pay for his milk at the co-op. In my mind I was saying "just get the f***in money out of your pocket, can't you see there's a F888in queue". & I don't swear, I was gritting my teeth, if only people knew! Feel loads better now.

well done to you, ive tried a few times and have the same problem with my temper, but living with a 6 year old and having a temper is not good, so i ended up smoking again, i was like a jekyl and hide. keep it up, they say it wont last too long, or you could try one of those inhaler things, at least you will have some nicotine in your system and have something to hold in your hand:)

Alan Carr wrote a stop smoking book?! Off the Friday Night Project?!

EDIT apparently this is a different bloke and I feel bad now in case I looked sarcy :( I really did think it was him off the TV!

So - my tip - is simply to have some NRT gum on hand if you feel like you're losing it, as that would be much better than caving in! :)

I heard about the Alan Carrs book but didn't bother.
I started on patches from the dr's but it was such a pain getting to the clinic which was while I was working I stopped using them half way through.
Myself I still find it hard to belief that I don't smoke after all I have done it all of my adult life & longer.
I no longer miss it but occasionally get an urge, I also love sniffing dirty ash trays & lingering behind smokers!

When I was a student nurse we had to look at glass jars , with smokers lungs in, who had died of lung cancer. I was amazed at how black they looked.Show that to smokers and thed never touch a cig again.

Hi Lyndix

today is my first day without a ciggie. Feel okay at the moment but perhaps in a couple of days if I am going mad as well, we could meet up and have a big fight - just to get rid of the tension :D :D

Not a bad idea The Monz. I`ve got a punch bag, gloves and target pads in the garage, I am seriously thinking about bringing them into the house. just so when I get "the rage" I`ve got something to smash it out with, don`t think my hubby will hold the pads for me though, I might just miss on purpose!
Good luck with the quitting mate, we`ll do it together. Keep me posted with how you`re getting on!

On average it takes around 4 days for the nicotine to leave the body. If you can get through that barrier it'll get easier and easier.

Many of us have quit smoking and told the story of how we did it on the forum. Here's mine....

It hasn't all been plain sailing though has it... we argued a lot when you first quit back in March, then you had some Easter Sunday, but haven't had one since.

Temper seems ok now, no arguments.. all good :)

I know it`s hard but stick with it TM, if you feel you need one, come on here and I`ll talk you out of it!
My other half got up this morning in a foul mood(he`s stopped as well) and that set me off. I was stomping around the house, took kids to school and as i was going out of the door shouted "stuff this, i`m going to get some cigs!"
I`m so glad I didn`t, can`t imagine having to start all over again!
We can do it!

According to other posts on here it only takes 4 days for the proper craving to go - then you just want one!! Means I've got 2 days to go. I daren't have a drink though, I would give in with a glass of wine in my hand.

Thanks for the support:)

yeah, managed to get through another day(just about) without any ciggies.
even put my splashback and cooker hood up this evening, they have been sat at the bottom of the stairs for the last 6months, needed to take my mind off it!:D

Well done for quitting! You will feel more pride in yourself if you don't have another fag than if you do! Good luck!
