I had no response to the Power station thread and this man was mentioned so I thought I would start thread off with his name.
His name was Stan Whomesley who worked at Sheffield Power station at Owlerton and was the annual father Christmas at the kids parties there in the 60s.
I met up with Stan in the late 70s and he was a magician, apparantly a good one to.
We worked together and he would show me some tricks.
I believe he came from the Heeley side of Sheffield.
Did anyone know Stan, is he still around today.
He would be pushing 80 now I would have thought.

Stan died many years ago now, used to live on High Matlock Road in Stannington.

Are you sure? I'm sure I've seen his volvo around with the sign on the top.

Ime sure ime Sure, his son still lives in Stannington! Go in to The Rose & Crown and ask for Stan (his son) he also had a daughter named Dianne (Don’t know where she is now)
