View Full Version : These People Are MAD!!!!
angelgirluk 08-11-2004, 20:02 Ok, so this is great news for whoever is listing this item, but I know that if it was me, I wouldn't be as lucky as to get one bidder let alone anything else!!
Take a look:

I rest my case...!

Greybeard 08-11-2004, 20:33 It's a prank, - there are only two bidders and look at the bids £19.72, - £31.58...??
Anyway the goods are not as described, - that carrier bag is obviously not new - look at the creases ;)
miniminch 08-11-2004, 20:38 don't say anything but I know where you can get loads of those for nothing - its a ****ing goldmine!!
e-bay is hard to fathom sometimes. We have friends who travel round the country buying up kiddies 'special releae' toys from tescos and selling them on e-bay. The prices they get are unbelievable. A friend at work buys box set dvds and sells them for three times the price you can get them for on Amazon or Play. It defies any logic.
ToryCynic 08-11-2004, 20:57 There really some amusing things sold on eBay...
A carrier bag, that really is just a wind-up!

I could understand more if it was a Safeway bag as Safeway is about to become extinct and their carrier bags are surely destined to become collectors items worth a few million pounds each in the next few months. Admittedly however, I have it on good authority that Morrisons bags are vastly superior and much stronger than most carrier bags!
the thing is, even if it is a stupid prank... the person selling it still has to pay sellers fee's... seems stupid and pointless to me if the people dont pay up for crazy stuff...
I've had a few none payers for items and it's getting annoying, cus it costs me £'s to put them back up!

They could get around this problem easily by allowing the seller to charge the winning bidder the sellers fee if they fail to pay for the goods.

That's a good point; recently I was trying to sell a CD Player and aother cheapr item that was only 75p to sell, yet my Sky Dish was £1.50 to sell - and that isn't including the sub-title etc etc.
However, I have never had any problems with people coughing up. The person I sold my hi-fi to sounded cool.

mr.blaze 08-11-2004, 22:54 I've just upped it a quid.
I'll have 2 please :hihi::hihi:
Draggletail 08-11-2004, 23:16 I used to sell 'stuff' on yahoo! auctions. It was good fun and it was absolutely FREE.
Then yahoo stopped auctions in the UK (Why??)
So I discovered ebay, very similar to yahoo, but recently they have got far too big, far too powerfull, and have NO competition to bring them down to size.
They bought out 'paypal' so now they own that + the commision they get.
They make it difficult to put an alternative on like 'Nochex'
Now, you can have an ' outbid' notice SMSed to your mobile, with an option to re-bid COSTING YOU 25p per text.
They would increase sales more by keeping the charge free and increasing sales, surely.
I'm starting to resent ebay lately. Talk about sqeezing the pennies out of you till you squeak!!

Competition aside... Paypal used to be absolutely horrendous to use and I was very retiscent to use them when I started a non-profit project that required contributions...
That was 2 years ago... Since the buyout, Paypal have improved massively... They aren't perfect but from a pure "Paypal user" point of view I'm a lot happier... Ebay is a whole other kettle of fish as I barely use it...
Draggletail 08-11-2004, 23:45 Fair comment, Martin - I must admit to have never used paypal pre ebay buy out.
'Nochex. are at present trying hard to give paypal a run for their money (Uk based alternative)
What am I like - back in the early eighties I wouldn't have been winging about UK based alternatives and competition:loopy:
How things change....
funkyukgal 09-11-2004, 08:15 how the HELL did that bag get sold for £170?!?!?!??!!?:loopy: :loopy: :loopy: :loopy:
Yodameister 09-11-2004, 08:18 Probably bought by the seller themselves or one of their mates for a laff, I should imagine?
If you notice the winning bidder and the other bidder have a connection. The winning bidder has purchased stuff from the other ( andy?) at ridiculous prices. It seems to me it's a scam. It would be worth keeping track of the three of them.
:suspect:
Greybeard 09-11-2004, 10:05 There's nothing to stop one person having several IDs on Ebay and many do, to transact fictitious sales and build up 'honesty' feedback.
It's certainly best to check this feedback, any mutual back-scratching is an obvious indicator.
angelgirluk 09-11-2004, 11:02 Ok... check their feedbacks - both of the guys who were bidding. They have bought and sold from each other before... obviously a prank but funny..!
Maybe it's worth listing a few old carrier bags now and again. A carrier full of carriers?! You never know, people living overseas that don't have a Morrisons might just be tempted to bid, afterall their friends won't have one!!
I agree though, pointless stuff especially when there are the eBay fees to pay, and having sold the bag at £170 they won't be that low either!!
Was it worth it I wonder?!
