View Full Version : Poll: Should I get the Mail on Sunday tomorrow for the free CD?
Topic.
The Mail on Sunday are putting in a free copy of Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" CD tomorrow, which I wouldn't mind getting despite the fact that there's only 2 songs on the whole CD I'd ever listen to.
If it was any other paper I wouldn't hesitate but y'all know my feelings regarding the Mail, so should I buy a copy just this once for the CD or not bother?
EdnaKrabappe 21-04-2007, 16:17 Yes. You are not going to prove anything to anyone by not buying it. Who will know? Apart from you telling us all on here.
No, seek out the tracks you like and download them (legally, of course ;) ).
EDIT: Unless you have cats, in which case the Mail makes a nifty cat litter tray liner.
StarSparkle 21-04-2007, 16:50 Oooh, that's a real crisis of conscience you've got there, Rich :hihi:
Think: if you buy it, your money is going into the Daily Mail coffers...
Don't Do It! You won't be speaking to yourself! :hihi:

miniminch 21-04-2007, 16:57 The choice is yours - you can buy that evil, scaremongering, tissue of lies dropped out of Satan's arse area for a satanic CD, or you can sleep nights! :)
Don't do it Rich. It's a slippery slope. One minute you're buying the Mail, next minute you'll be ranting about ....errr...yourself!
KJ_VENOM 21-04-2007, 17:13 buy it buying a paper wont change the world
Buy a copy ! If you don't I'll go buy two copies and line their pockets even further. That should leave you with a clear conscience :P
bensonhedges 21-04-2007, 17:17 Daily Mail = Daily Hate. Can't see the Sunday one being any better. Still, free music - go for it Rich.
The only time I buy newpapers is when there's a CD or other freebie in it that I want. I'll be down the newsagents bright and early tomorrow because, although I have Tubular Bells on vinyl, I want the CD for the quality.
It's a brilliant album imo, so I don't think it matters which newspaper is giving it away free. It'll probably go in the recycling without being read here.:D
Hmm, votes are tied at the moment.. Come on somebody do a deciding vote for me! :D
Aw sod it, if I go anywhere near a paper shop tomorrow I'll probably end up buying the Mail, taking the CD out and putting the paper itself in the blue bin.
Just download it Rich, like you say there are only two songs you want. The guys loaded and you wouldn't want to make the rich richer would you now?
P.S. I've just decided for you.
Rich, have you ever heard the whole Tubular Bells album? Basically, there are only two tracks, Tubular Bells Part 1 (on side 1 of vinyl) and Tubular Bells Part 2 (side 2 on vinyl). There are no songs ~ it's instrumental!
What two tracks is it that you want?
Just a bit of useless information, that I've just picked out of my walnut of a brain, Tubular Bells was the first album to be released by Virgin Records.
cressida 21-04-2007, 20:28 If you don't you'll be cutting off your nose to spite your face
Why not go halves with someone who only wants the paper?

He probably doesn't want it, now he's found out that it's not a Greatest Hits album.:D
KJ_VENOM 22-04-2007, 02:30 buy it for crying out loud, if you don't like the paper DON'T READ IT! but for the cd itself its worth it!
Gypsy Hack 22-04-2007, 02:42 Go to the co-op in Walkley, my mate will give you a cd free if he's working.
Ms Macbeth 22-04-2007, 07:12 I would buy it - and read it. As you stated in another post that the readers are 'lefties', reading it may surprise you! :hihi:

Careful - after reading Peter Hitchens' column you might become hooked. :hihi:
I was at my local newsagents just after 8.45 this morning, and they'd nearly sold out of Mail on Sunday.
I suppose it'll be the same at the supermarkets when they open, provided they put the inserts into the paper and not claim that they've never received them, which our local Asda quite often does.
Now I'm playing at full blast, annoy all the neighbours (well, getting my own back for their annoying me for yonks:hihi: ).
We often get a copy, it's a very entertaining read. Like the Bunty or a fantasy version of the actual news. I also like to read the letters and imagine the bug-eyed frenzy of the people who wrote 'em, their heads swelling up into purple balloons with excessively high blood pressure because a black person walked past their house three weeks ago. Though the Express is preferable due to the superior quality of the cartoons. ;)

And they always have far superior coverage of the latest Diana news :hihi: .
I didn't bother in the end, like someone said I can just download the couple of songs on the CD that I would've wanted.
Better than wasting nearly a quid on a paper I wouldn't read just for teh "free" CD.
Especially when a quid's nearly the price of half a moonshine at the Dev Cat meet tonight :D

But Rich, as was also pointed out, there are no songs on the CD.....it's an instrumental, and there's only two tracks. Isn't that the real reason why you didn't get it?:D
Yeah OK.
Anyway the matter's resolved so the Mods can lock this now.
Why lock it.....we can discuss the album now, if we want?
It's my thread and I'll lock if I want to! There's a song in that somewhere :D
Quality album Ann
Aye, ya reyt....It made Branson a millionaire
howcome daily mail readers have to make an issue out of buying a paper :hihi:
