Yo people
I'm gonna buy a mic for my home setup - am willing to go up to 200 quid tops. Im using a EMU 1616m and ive narrowed the search down to:
Rode NT1A and the MXL v69.
Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to which to go for or if there are any other models I should consider. I'm mainly be recording my voice (needs all the help it can get!!) and my acoustic guitar.
cheers
Ash.

Too right! Best mic in its price range and built like a brick s***house. I had a couple in the shed last year sat in a storage box that the rain got in. I retrieved the mics, sodden, rusty, etc. Thought they were only fit for the bin. I just let them dry for a couple of days and then tried them. Perfect! They don't half stand some stick!

These are serious bits of kit rich and not some 20p lump of asian sweatshop crap.
The SM 58 is weak in this company but at least it's a valid suggestion for a quality vocal mic.

ROTFLMAO muahahahahahaha..........pfffft..hahahaha :hihi:
oo, yea... sorry... where are my manners
OP: for a home studio setup you simply cant go wrong with the Shure SM range. just make sure all your cables are properly shielded and up to the job too with being in close proximity to a switchiing PSU and (possibly) a CRT monitor you'll get interference-a-plenty if theyr'e not.

The op is looking for a high quality microphone.
It's serious stuff and a cheap lump of plastic junk won't cut it.
Still gave a couple of people a laugh so don't knock it.:D
Chill man.

I'd have a look at this. AT4033 (http://www.dv247.com/invt/2607/).
It's a cheaper version of the AT4050. Haven't used one but if it's anything like, it should be perfect.

Nice kit. AT are based locally and I have never had problems with their stuff.
PM me for a reasonable deal on AT gear.
