Hi

My name is Paul and I live in New York and am researching my family history. My great grandfather Samuel Henry Roebuck was Baptised Aug 26, 1856. His parents were Samuel and Helen Roebuck. There adobe was in Norton Lees.

I have a copy of what appears to be a page from a church register. At the top of the page states "Baptisms solemnized in the parish of Norton in the County of Derby"

The ceremony was performed by "Tho.Howarth Officiating" as best as I can decipher the handwriting.

Can anyone help me identity what church this might be? Just knowing the denomination would be a big help.

Thanks

Its probably Norton Church on Bunting Nook Postcode would be S8. Its a pretty old church. Once went to a wedding there, but don't have any more information.

I am sure Cosywolf will come up with the goods.

This is called St James Church and is just off Bunting Nook on Norton Church Road (postcode S8 8JQ). The church dates back to the 12th century and contains lots of interesting architectural features - well worth a look!
