I think it is just another money grabbing move by the record companies. Nirvana already have a 'Best Of' now they're releasing a box set.
It's a lot of work on a band that is expired. Nirvana were ok but they're not good enough to release all this stuff.
In my view it will flop in sales.
What do you think to this? Would you buy it?
What about you hardcore Nirvana fans on the forum, what's your opinion?
It's a continuation of the 'completist' approach that a lot of fans have to their favoured artists.
As you've said, one does wonder why if the stuff wasn't good enough to release before now, why is it being released now? The material that some bands let out after the demise is pretty good, but whether it will be of interest to anyone except the 'train spotters' (no disrespect meant) amongst Nirvana fans is doubtful.
But, you never know - for example, the writer Franz Kafka left specific instructions that after his death all his writings were to be destroyed. His literary executor disobeyed the edict and many of Kafka's published pieces, including The Trial and The Castle, came posthumously. Maybe there'll be a gem in the new stuff.

I wonder how much it will cost.... (not considering buying it) and would it be value for money?

I am an avid Nirvana fan and I did buy the box set.
Although most of the songs are available on the net, it was worth the money because I collect Nirvana stuff.
It was for money, just like every move that a company or band makes after the death of a member....but whether it was for money or not...I will still continue to support the band even now. If they come out with more of these things I'll buy them too. I'm sure most people would do the same for their favourite artists. Love ya all! :)
