Beastieboy 07-11-2004, 08:20 Originally posted by craigmason anyone no what happend to those people flogging pirate playstation game's on the moor ? Most likely got arrested:rolleyes: Had a look around the market, some good food available but a tad expensive. I will be buying some of the foreign beers that are there today. 367squadron 07-11-2004, 09:14 Naa, i think this market caused a nuisence! As you walked down fagate it was full of marketstalls therefore reducing the size of the walkway. I was hell tryin to get to the bottom of fargate and back up again. Why can't they find a better location or just stick to sundays rather than blocking the whole shopping area. Internetowl 07-11-2004, 17:55 I think the market added to the town centre shopping experience - it was nice (crowded yes) to see people out and about in the town centre rather than crammed in at Meadowhell. The food smelt and tasted great....much better than the alternatives generally offered from the likes of McD, BK and KFC - yuk yuk yuk More markets please whoever organised the event. HarrietStar 07-11-2004, 18:10 i was really gutted when my boyfriend got to work at 5pm and told me the market had been on, i really loved it last year! so is it definatly on tommorrow? beacause if so, yay! halevan 07-11-2004, 18:13 Originally posted by Internetowl today on Fargate - some quality food on offer , well worth a visit and taster - its on tomorrow too - and not before time. Very good, interesting, worth a visit, trouble is it is too pricey, one needs to take a mortgage out to buy from there!!! Really nice to see something different. And market stalls in a market ? How inconsiderate  Beastieboy 07-11-2004, 19:50 Originally posted by HarrietStar i was really gutted when my boyfriend got to work at 5pm and told me the market had been on, i really loved it last year! so is it definatly on tommorrow? beacause if so, yay! It was the last day of the market today (Sunday) the next one on is the Christmas art and craft maket. It is expensive but when it's only on a couple of times a year then it's nice to splash out when it's here. The market will definately be on next year, there was an article in the Telegraph with the stall holder praising Sheffield for the custom it has given to the market. craigmason 08-11-2004, 11:32 as i have not been in the town centre for a long time are the religious nuts still there saying the end of the world is comming and other rubbish ?:loopy: :loopy: Captain_Scarlet 08-11-2004, 11:44 There was some ace stuff, but totally overpriced... For those prices I'd expect them selling from a shop, not a tent. Pity, there was stuff I'd have bought, but nooooo adlinds 08-11-2004, 15:05 My parents came over yesterday so it was somewhere nice to take them, only my dad got a bit giddy at the fudge stall and spent about £15 quid on different flavoured fudge. They were also overjoyed at the prices of the stall selling plans an bulbs and we were soon heading back to my house with a small rainforrest and 19KG 0f fudge. adlinds 08-11-2004, 15:06 the above post was meant to say plants and bulbs NOT plans and bulbs, can a mod please edit that, sorry. Ned Ludd 08-11-2004, 16:21 Justin's of Whitby is tops for fudge if anyone is over thataway. genesiscouch 08-11-2004, 18:54 Originally posted by 367squadron Naa, i think this market caused a nuisence! I'd suggest you stay inside your home from now on just in case any more nuisance events occur. The market was great, I would love to see it as a regular event. 367squadron 08-11-2004, 19:05 It was a nuisence to me, someone who works in the city centre and only has for lunch. The smell that was been produced was disgusting enough to make me and my friends gip. Also shops like M+S must have losted trade as i overheard a woman saying that she couldn't get the in time so she had to taurn back. Now that's a nuisence. I don't complain much it's just the fact that it had to be there on a busy saturday when if it had sticked to sunday it would be a lot better. 367squadron 08-11-2004, 19:06 Originally posted by 367squadron It was a nuisence to me, someone who works in the city centre and only has 30 mins for lunch. Edd 08-11-2004, 19:12 I thought it was fantastic (including the delicious smells!) and made a great change from (as someone else has said) wandering around a bunch of lame-ass card shops and 6 (or is it 8 now?) mobile phone shops. Restrict to sunday when its not busy? thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard! Why not have it at night when theres noone around at all?!? :loopy: Id like to see something similar every week. Some of the cheeses and cured meat products were really tasty, and although some of it was fairly expensive it was still worthwhile just to breath some life into the town centre. Bring it on! Greenback 08-11-2004, 19:19 The only thing that's a nuisance is that it's not there more often. Oh, and the sort of folk who'd rather battle through the crowds to buy a Big Mac than try something a little bit different! 367squadron 08-11-2004, 19:33 Originally posted by Edd Restrict to sunday when its not busy? thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard! Isn't thats why we have purpose built markets where all the stalls are situated....Why they accomodate this on a thursday when it's closed? This is just my opinion. |
