View Full Version : Believe it or NOT - Strange experiences
To some this may sound very weird... But i was a little curious as to see if anyone else on the Forum has had any strange experiences...
It began when my Partner and I were having of a heart to heart... Quite a serious an involved chat...
As the evening went on i put my forehead up against his joking that all i needed was a plug from his head to mine so i could see what was going on from within... Anway we both pulled away to carry on chatting... Then our foreheads touched again... In seconds i had to pull away... I read his mind! :o (I know what your thinking... whatever Angel!) Well let me tell you... It freaked me out so much i almost burst into tears...
I looked into Pauls eyes and told him i've just read your mind... an came out with what i had read... He just looked at me... He confirmed what i had said was true... I couldnt believe it... I had to ask him several times if he was being serious. Which he confirmed yet again was true
Strangest thing tho was that not only did i read his mind... It was in his voice...
I dont expect people to believe me... but believe this i have never in my life been so spooked...
From now on i'm keeping my head well away from his or anyone elses for that matter!
Shudder!
Im with ya on that one. . .
I lived with a dude (osaris on this forum) and we were playing GTA vice city one evening. I was playing the game, just tozzin about, killin stuff and getting into general bother. Me house chum was sat on the same sofa, doing something while watching the general mayhem. .
I'd just created a kick @$$ gang war between some cubans and asians, jumped in a car sharpish, got three yards down the road and said out loud "Good plan!", hand-braked the car and starting going back to near where I was, to get a sheild as I'd took a bit of a beeting starting the gang war.
I got the sheild and looked at my chum who was just gawping at the screen, he said "You just read my mind"
Me being bla-sae about it, flippantly replied "yeah, I heard ya say 'why don't ya get the sheild behind the building', just as I set off. . so i went and fetched it!"
He nearvously replied "but I didn't say that, I THOUGHT IT!"
"Yeahhh..Err. . . eh?" I confusley enquired.
"I just said those exact words, but it was IN ME HEEED!! And you had to have read my mind, cos your verbal and instintive response was a direct reply. If you'd have thought about getting the sheild yourself, you'd have said "D'uh" or "Opps, forgot summat" or "Why don't I get that shield" but your response was an instinctive reply and not a comment.
Its at that point I realised what he was harping on about, realised it wasn't just a co-incedence and realised what had REALLY happened.
Kinda spooked us both for the rest of the evening, and the next day a bit too. . .

I guess the title does say believe it or NOT. I guess you don't believe and you're entitled to your opinion. She has no reason to lie though does she?
I can only confirm what Angel says as being true because I was the one that was thinking it when she heard it in her head. :P
andy1702 06-11-2004, 22:29 Forgive my lack of humour on this subject, but if you don't have anything constructive to say then don't bother saying anything at all! It is precisely because people just take this kind of stuff as a joke all the time that no serious research ever gets done to help us understand it!
Ok Rant over. Now...
What you are experiencing Angel is not uncommon. It actually happens more often that you might think, but most people don't notice it. How many people out there have suddenly thought about someone for no apparent reason, then a few minutes later the phone rings and it's them?
The science behind the phenomenon is unproven, but I'll attempt to explain the theory of what is commonly known as 'mind reading'.
Quite simply, the human brain works electrically. It's entire function is a huge number of electrical impulses. Granted these are small, but they are there none the less.
Electricity produces magnetic fields and these can in turn produce electricity. So usingbthis theory it should be possible to pass these electrical impulses from one brain to another.
This is just one theory of how this works. There are many others. But it does undeniably work.
Many years ago I was lucky enough to be tought many of the tricks and cons used by old time fairground side-show mediums and psychics etc. In the main this allows me to explain most of what we would call psychic experiences. However there are a small percentage of things this does not account for.
One mind control experiment you can try is to toss a coin in the air a number of times. By chance this should land heads 50% of the time and tails the other 50%. What you will find is that if you concetrate on it landing a particular way, these percentages can be altered.
Andy.
The only thing I get in relation to this subject is a strange ability to be able to tell what films are being shown on tv every now and again.
I'll be thinking of a certain film and running through parts of it in my head for 1 to 2 days and then it'll show up on tv, usually within the week. I tested it once a few years ago. The film Secret of my Success (Michael J Fox) was running through my head for about a full day so I went straight to the TV guide (previously unread) and there it was the following Sunday. This kind of thing still happens to me now from time to time.
Not that it's of any use to anyone but it's interesting to me on occasion. There's a bit of difference between being able to read someone's mind and being a potential walking film tv guide though.
I have in the past have my home/mobile phone ring when i have been thinking about it... i hear the ring tone in my head and within seconds its ringing... also on a couple of ocassions i have said my phone number in my head both mobile and home and they've rung...
Also if i think bad thoughts they can sometimes happen... I really do scare myself sometimes... (dont double cross me! you have been warned lol)
Maybe i am a gifted person... who knows maybe i should look into it... My Father is gifted...
The only related, weirdish thing I've had like this is when for no reason a song comes into my head and then in the next few seconds it comes on the radio or on the TV.
kittykat 06-11-2004, 23:05 I have a word for you and i feel it is the most appropriate word to use in this discussion. That word is: Coincidence.

Maybe... but the mind reading was defo not... an as Pauly said its believe it or NOT! Pauly has also confirmed it that it did happen...
Bikertec 06-11-2004, 23:27 Been around lots of Psychics and Mediums in the last year and found that most of these people have this gift. We all have the caplablity but lose it at an early age but can be retaught or never realy lose it. I am learning to be a medium and would kill for a gift like that.
Draggletail 07-11-2004, 00:32 Long time ago whilst sitting on a bus reading a book about this sort of stuff, I was inspired to focus on the back of the head of the person in front and think/project 'speak to me' almost instantly, she turned round and asked me what time it was, looked very confused about why she had asked and rushed of the bus for the next stop!
If you wanted to know the time, you would ask someone at the side of you, not do a 180% to look at someone behind. Never forgot that one.
Have other stuff, but anyway....:)
My dad is deaf to high pitched sounds, so can't hear the phone ring. If I wanted to speak to him, I had to ring and will him to pick up the phone. Mostly it worked!
Earlier tonight my missus was talking/typing to someone talking about films. I was watching Apocalypse Now at the time. The person she was talking to asked her what i was thinking of the film. She typed in "I don't think he is that bothered, he has probably seen it before". Then she asked me what i thought and i said " I think i've seen it before, I'm not really bothered".
This is just what happened tonight. There are 100s of occasions over the last 11 years when we have had similar experiences.

doesnt that come down to her knowing you well and knowing what you're like??
I do believe what Angel said...ive had different experiences...
Draggletail - about what you said...reminded me of Derren Browns show..when he got a person to stand by the window and got them to concentrate on a stranger down on the street to get them look up at them...and they did! love his show its brilliant!

Coincidence explains a few things, but most people have at least a couple of experiences in their lives that don't 'fit the bill' of coincidence, so to say.
As a child I was due to go on holiday with y parents and aunt and uncle, and I really got in a tizzy about NOT going - in fact I got so wound up about it that I almost made myself ill and we delayed going for a week or so. During that time the place we were to go to burnt down.
I've experienced a large number of 'coincidences' around our first cat, and also experienced occasions of apparent telepathy between myself and my mother, and can usually tell whether someone is worried or concerned just by being in the same room as them, even if they seem to be the life and soul of teh party.
There have bene a lot of interesting articles and books written around the whole concept of coincidence and it's Jungian relation synchronicity.
Sometimes I think that coincidence is sued as a short hand for 'we don't really want to start looking at that because it opens up a lot of questions to answer'. I do believe that there are occasions when we're 'plugged in' to a wider set of senses than we accept that we have.
An open mind and an accepatnce to question conventional wisdom, but with a rational and scientific approach, are always useful tools for the enquiring mind to have.

Hey I get that periodically too (though its more often to do with particular episodes of shows than films) I'm not sure whether its just cos I have seen a TV guide at some point and am subconciously remembering it or something
More difficult to rationalise is the number of times I have been in the middle of sending a friend a text message and got a message or phonecall from them, or picked up my mobile just before I get a call from someone :o
nine years ago, it was 3 30 am ..i was fast asleep in bed when i woke up and said to the wife " mums dead " within minutes the phone rang,it was my brother, mum had just died, the exact same thing happened a year later, this time it was my dad who had died
two years ago i came down stairs and told the wife i think we are going to get some bad news today, the police turned up later that day to say her mum had passed away in glasgow

Did you have to talk like Barry white when he answered?
Sorry...
; )
I experience stuff like this quite regularly. The one that really sticks out though was when watching "ask the family" (remember it?) on TV with my sister and parents.
I was loosely watching it and playing with lego at the time and suddenly blurted the word "Clondike!" out. No idea what it was or where I had heard the word (I was very young).
The question after the next one on TV was something about the goldrush and the answer was Clondike!
Parents quizzed me to ask where I had heard it and why I said it. I had no idea.....
Maldonado 07-11-2004, 13:14 Angel05 - could you give us a clue as to exactly what you managed to mind-read? it might help to sway people's opinions to see just how easy it might have been to predict what your bloke was thinking...
as for people being aware that the phone will ring, i'm really not surprised. i scare people a lot of the time by picking up my phone seconds before it rings. i think that your body can detect the microwaves being sent to it, and if you use your phone enough, then your brain will start to be able to pick out the specific pattern of an incoming call / message [the beeps you can hear in speakers if your phone is close ot them]... i don't think that it's anything paranormal, just using your body / mind to a further extent than normal.

No, but as an ankle biter I had to call him by his first name coz squeaky little voices going 'dad' didn't register. Hmm...

No, we appeciate your lack of humour. But if only constructive comments can be made then i wouldn't have anything to post. That would be discrimination against shallow and immature people!! And I won't have it!!
But to be serious for a moment. I have to confess a supernatural experience! My Dad died five years ago. We had a difficult relationship and we didn't really talk to each other much. Anyway, since his death the weirdest thing - he's kept it up - he still refuses to talk to me!!
There is that ****ing constructive enough for you!!
