We are a young family and have lived in sheffield for a year, renting in hillsborough. Looking to buy but don't have a great idea about other areas in sheffield. Have a budget of around 110-125k, looking for 3 bed house and decent primary school. Any advice on decent areas would be appreciated?

Meersbrook - don't wait around though - prices are going up very quickly as the area improves.

Unfortunately prices are going up very quickly everywhere in Sheffield at the minute. We moved into our house in Foxhill 3 months ago. We bought ours for 85k. A very similar house with no garage or front garden (ours has both) is on the market at the minute for 95k. We dont believe it to be as good a purchase as ours was. You have to be quick to grab a bargain at the minute.

I say Woodseats or Meersbrook. But there a few people on this site who rave about Stannington. And Loxley is nice.

Have you considered Frecheville (S12), we have schools from Nursery right through to the Community College. Local shops & good bus/tram access.

Meersbrook is great, but as LaceCurtains says, prices are going up very quickly (a few people I've spoken to have accepted offers 10-15k above the asking price in the last couple of months) so don't hang around!

You would get a nice 3 bed semi in Hackenthorpe for that and it has a great primary on springwater ave.

Its quiet, clean and close to crystal peaks.

I'll second that, we've just moved to Hackenthorpe and so far it's lovely! And the area is very affordable. As lickable says, its very close to Crystal Peaks so good transport connections etc

Thanks for all the advice, had been thinking about meersbrook but properties just seem to be going so quick at the minute and it's hard as they are going for way over the asking price. Also looking around malin bridge, wadsley and stannington.

Had no idea though about hackenthorpe and frechville so might need to take a couple of days off and have a look around the areas and view some properties. although the prices will probably have gone up a couple of grand in that time...

thanks again

If you're not too bothered about living near the middle of Sheffield, there's still lots of really good places in your price range. Good luck with your search! :)

Do you like living in Hillsborough? Do you feel you've been outpriced to buy in the area? I just wondered, as I haven't kept track of house prices since we moved here 2 years ago.
