I would go to the sheffield council kennels and help one of those there.
loads of lovely dogs desperate for a new home and she can get there on the bus too.
not to be put off by the noise they will be making. They will all be scared and stressed out - but there will be some nice ones there waiting for homes.

Doe's your sister want a puppy or an older dog if so up to what age? Has your sister a prefered breed in mind ? :) Maybe forumer's could offer some advice that would help your sister if she choose's she wants to buy a puppy/dog or to rescue one or wants one free to good home?
Doe's any one know what you should ask/look for when having a free to good home dog ?
I once had an older dog free to good home who had weak back legs but i wasn't informed the dog had trouble with his bladder and serious bowel control, which i couldn't cope with because of the mess and having young children, so to my disapointment he had to be returned :( .
Doe's anyone know what you should ask/look for when having a kennel dog ?
Other info could be helpful like how much is the donation fees at the rescue kennels (council kennels, rainrescue, rspca and others) and are there any home checks involved in any of these rescues?
And what should you look for when buying a puppy ? life time guarantee, vet checks etc
Good luck in finding a knew friend

We got our dog, Jasper from Sheffield Council Kennels in January and he is fantastic. He is a Jack Russel/Papillion Cross.

They do have lots of lovely dogs there in need of a loving home. Their adoption fee is £65.
not to go off the subject of the original post but do you have to make appointments to go to sheffield council kennels and has anyone got a number. i thought they shut down when the work started around there.

Here's a link to rotherham dog rescue. I know it's bit out of the way but if your sister likes the look of one of the dogs PM me and I can give her a lift if she likes.
