No, you see I bought the V600 sim free a week ago but the carphone warehouse don't give refunds on sim free phones:rant:
I think thats disgusting... Anyway I just have to sell it to an independent shop ( and probably lose £100 on it..). I don't need the V600 anymore as I got a better phone for my 21st.

Now correct me if i'm wrong . But i seem to remember some consumer law changing .

It states

Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 traders must sell goods that are as described and of satisfactory quality.

If consumers discover that products do not meet these requirements they can reject them and ask for their money back providing they do so quickly. Alternatively, they can request a repair or replacement or claim compensation.

The Sale of Goods Act has been amended by the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002 which transpose a European Directive. Although the impact of the Regulations is relatively modest there are some useful benefits for consumers.

Heres the link .. Hope it helps ..

If you are talking about the carphone warehouse not giving refunds, they are under no obligation to offer a cash refund unless the goods were misdescribed or sold as something they wernt, or if they are faulty.

You should always check with a stores returns policy before purchasing.

Zarellas are crap. Not only does he sell second hand phones at hugely over-inflated prices (When I bought my 6610 brand new sim free for £180 from Carphone Warehouse, he had the same phone, second hand in his window at £250), he also hasnt got a clue what hes talking about. When a friend of mine took a phone to him for unlocking, he claimed to be one of the only shops in Yorkshire to have official Nokia service equipment for doing it. When I asked him about updating the software on anohter Nokia phone, he didnt even know it was possible. The phone he unlocked wouldnt work after he did it, wouldnt get a signal on any network, and it turned out he never had the Nolia service equipment, he was using a laptop withsoftware found freely on the net. I wouldnt touch him with a ten foot pole....leave him selling his overpriced phone and crappy jewellry to the assorted chavs who are always hanging around outside.

That's correct Silver, I recently had to take issue with the Carphone Warehouse for that very reason - they gave a refund straight away but they certainly don't train they staff properly as the girl who served didn't even know about the sale of goods act. When I worked in sales (albeit over 20 years ago now) I had to read the Sale of Goods Act. Anyhow, in this case this doesn't apply as Sony says he got a better one for his birthday. So he wasn't missold (as I was).

Seconded!. My 6510 is in the window of Zarellas for £180!. Well not MY 6510 but you get the message. Anyway, when he offered me £40 for mine, i asked him what the difference was and he just said "ohh it's different that one". My 6510 is open to any network so i can'not think of any reason for his to be so expensive?.

The phone shop down by Castle Market seems to be run by much more knowledgable people and has more sensible prices. The guy in Zorellas quoted me £25 to unlock my Sagem - which I thought was a bit steep - and he then told me he was the only one who'd be able to do it!

The guys by Castle Market did it for £15.

Perhaps you got the one that I saw - she must have been 'hauled over the coals' about it by now. As to quote it's company policy to a customer is a serious error as they can be reported to trading standards and lose their trading licence for non-compliance (so I believe anyway) or at the very least fined.

I'm glad you got sorted though.
