View Full Version : Broken into while in bed
Hi all
I have come into the forum to have a rant and rave about something that happened to me and my family on Tuesday night, while sleeping in bed we was broken into and they stole my sons Xbox, a DVD Player, a Video Player, A Combination Safe (one of those cheapo £30 ones) a red box full of CD's, a Silver Mini Stereo, a Mobile Phone, an Income Support book and numerous other items not of any particular value but missed nonetheless.
This theft took place on Winn Gardens, now, it's not so much the fact that they stole the items, but that they had the cheek to break into the house while we was in the house at the time, I wondered if anyone else had experienced this.
Additionally, if anyone within the Winn Gardens area has any information regarding this theft, please let me know as my son is broken hearted at having his only form of entertainment stolen, thanks.
get belled up mate........there's firm that do it for £250 (or it was when i had one done) they fit it for ya then call round every thursday night and collect five quid till its paid
btw there number is 0151 638 5575 or 0500 130342
the offices are in liverpool but they do a lot of work in sheffield
burgler alarms in liverpool eh..........i bet they do a roaring trade:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
At least they couldn't half inch your bed!!!
mimicraze 05-11-2004, 16:28 yes this happened to me and my boyfriend in our current place. Not so long ago, we were broken into whilst asleep, they took all our dvds and my clarinets (very sentimental-what i use for work and extrememly expensive) which they probably thought was a laptop, my boyfriend got up to go to work and went downstairs horrified to see our front door WIDE OPEN. Well, i went downstairs and didnt notice anyhing had gone, then I noticed. I went outside and they had took my purse, the £3 that was in it and threw it on the floor outside.
Anyway, we got a really good alarm installed and now we can sleep at night :) I know everywhere gets burgled but moving house is a nice fresh start to having been assaulted directly outside our house for no reason, followed home a couple of times and also burgled, in Netheredge-cant wait to move!
mr.blaze 05-11-2004, 16:33 Why would they have thought it was a laptop?
I can recommend ADT Fire & Security in Sheffield for alarms also.
mimicraze 05-11-2004, 16:34 cos of the case they were in, looked very like a ladtop, unless they knew alot about clarinets they wouldnt have known they were worth a lot of money, doesnt matter anyway now :)
That company from Liverpool that has been mentioned has a bit of a poor reputation when it comes to repairs.
I know one or two people who have had these systems installed then had to go to the expense of removing them and having new systems installed purely because they wont come back to do the repairs.
Also one of the salesmen for this company who lives in Rotherham has a alarm from a Leeds company as he wont have one of his own "chucked at him" his words not mine.
If you need an alarm fitting always ask about the back up. What happens if it goes wrong. Do they have dedicated call out staff to carry out repairs and how much is their service contract and what does it cover.

i can't comment on that beacause ive never had the need to phone them as mine as never gone wrong had it 2 years btw
Stuff the alarm. That only lets you know after they get in! Address your door and window locks first, then buy a big dog... Preferably a Grotweiller or an akita. Alarms are ignored by your neighbours if you're out. Dogs are more difficult to ignore.
Listen to me ....... The beagle owner.
Anybody knocks at our door and he's 'whooo-hooooo...Visitors!!!!!.... I'll show you where the fridge is and we can share!!! :heyhey:'
ROFLMAO, I like that, beagle indeed, heh.
We have been looking into getting a decent alarm system sorted anyways, it's not so much to stop people breaking in as to give us peace of mind, it's very disturbing to know that while asleep someone can break in and do anything, not just steal items, our own life could be at risk, so, I would rather be happy in the thought of the house being secure.
As regards who we go with to sort out the security, that has not been decided yet.

100% correct, maybe we should take a leaf out of the muslim imigrants book and chop of their hands instead of giving them community service.
fredsredhat 05-11-2004, 20:29 OMG!!! How must you feel knowing they were in your house as you were sleeping? like it was said, a dog is the best alarm. (only trouble is it's like having a child sometimes) let them damn thieves try this house then they'll meet a very protective staffordshire bull terrier.....

Unfortunately, getting any form of pet is not feasable, when you have a disabled wife AND child, a dog is too much, the only option is a decent security system, which is what we intend to get sorted as soon as the cash flow reverts to something resembling normal.
nathan61969 06-11-2004, 00:12 wow im sorry that sucks..... but karma will come back to whoever did it :)

Albert Tross 06-11-2004, 08:09 Sorry to here your news. Chin up
I were burgled some years back.
The plug for the telly was still in the socket such was the force they'd used.
But what really p*ssed me off more than owt that had got nicked was actually knowing that some scrote had been in my house. Looking through my stuff etc.
Couldnt sleep for weeks.
Mind, according to the coppers that came round to see me the smash and grab burglerys arent the worst.
Some of these people break in and sh*t on your settees and p*ss on the walls etc.
Why I'm not sure. Jealosy?
Big fan of the alarm systems with them panick buttons you fit to your bedroom wall aswell.:)

Stereotyping doesn't show anything but ignorance. . .
All areas have ruffians and snobs, know it alls and village idiots and all sorts of other descriptions of life. . its what makes living in sheff ace. . the diversity.
Although I agree with everyone, it does suck on a grand scale, you can't let it get to you.
The reason they defficate on your property is because they know your gonna be well fecked off with them nickin stuff, so the fact that they know it can p155 you off further by doing the gross and disgusting gives em even more of an ego boost/trip.
By getting annoyed and upset, your techincally letting them win and giving them the satisfaction they look for, which is "being able to have and effect/impact on others"
This happened to us at my Parents house... They lived in Gosport down South... 6 People were in the house at the time... Mum and Dad downstairs... My Sister & her Hubby in my parents room and Me & my Ex in my old room...
It was my Dads Birthday... My Partner (at the time) and i were so tired we went to bed an left everyone partying... The Music was really loud... I walked downstairs to ask my Mum to turn it down... WIth that i went back to bed... As i jumped into bed i realised i had left the door pushed too... I wanted it closed... Ah what the hell its not as if someones going to be walking in...
Hmmm... think again!
I was tossing and turning in my bed... until i saw a flash of light... So i quickly shut my eyes tighter as i dont like thunder and lightening an then i guess i fell asleep...
When i woke in the morning i heard my Mum talking about a burglary... So i went down stairs to see what was going on...
My Brother in-law at the time... said he noticed my ex's jeans on the landing an thought nothing of it... there was £15 missing from his wallet... This person had taken the torch to look round the house with... Anyway whilst we were looking round the house for miss items... i went into my room to put my rings on and noticed only 2 of them were there i had 5 altogether... My ex's 3 rings hand been taken... Not impressed
Then i realised it wasnt lightning i saw... it was the flash of the torch as he was looking around my room... its horrible to think that a stranger was in my bedroom...
None of us could believe no one heard a thing... its so scary!
Whilst the Police were at our house a further 6 break ins in the same area came through... It was revealed in the papers he was a Junkie....
Its an awful experience to go through....

I agree - although I let the comment about Liverpool near the start of this thread go as I couldn't be arsed getting into another "scouser" debate!
mrchinnery 07-11-2004, 18:40 We have a dog which is agressive to visitors so we put a sign on the gate saying "DO NOT STROKE THE DOG"
Since we put it up we have never had penny-for-the-guy, trick-or-treat or carol-singers. I don't imagine for one minute we would get a burgular.
fridgeman 08-11-2004, 10:08 chop of their hands instead of giving them community service.
 i'm in agreement there, chop their hands off shave their heads and paint it purple, then tie them to the town hall gates, publicly humiliate the b%$&*$£%, thats not to bad is it? :o
