I recently accidentally reversed a company vehicle into another car causing extremely light damage. I passed on the other persons details to my boss who somehow managed to lose everything but her name address and phone number.

He came back to me yesterday and told me to ring her and get the details again! I did this without questioning it.

Talking to colleagues later I was told that I should not have done this as it is down to my company’s insurer to contact the third party.

Have I done anything illegal?

Is my boss not following correct procedures?

Any advice would be appreciated as I now a face disciplinary.

Thanks

Adam

NB: It is a multi national company that I work for.

i was a passenger in a company car, my colleague reversed into a parked car, we knocked on the door who the car belonged to but he had been working nights and was in bed, all we did was phone the boss, leave our details through the guys letter box, wrote down his car reg number and handed it to our boss, we didnt have to do anything else. I cant see what youve done being illegal (just my thoughts on it), but from now on let the insurance company handle things
