First one in Sheffield was Cairo's and I was 18 (just arrived at Uni). It was something else for a while, and then it went on to be Corporation, and then it got knocked down!

First club I ever went in was a club called Caverns in Bradford.
I was about 15 and if I remember rightly I got drunk and fell asleep in the ladies loos!

First club i went to in Sheffield, bearing in mind that i was 18 on my first visit, was Pulse and Vouge. At the time i thought it was amazing. I was only used to small dirty dives in Cumbria at the time. Looking back now... It was a dive!

The first time was a visit to Treetops that used to be part of Tiffany's/Locarno, then there was the club in NetherEdge and I can't remember what it was called. Luckily I discovered the Wap and the Penthouse on Dixon Lane in which I celebrated my 18th birthday.
Nowadays all the club goers look so young and the music??? isn't music anymore, bring back the Leadmill 60's and 70's Thursday night and bands like Martha and the Muffins and Pallas

I was a rather late starter............

19 at Pulse/Vogue.

Cheesy but what a place - spent most friday/saturday nights in there until it closed:(

Went there on Millenium Eve - most friends went next door to Don VAlley as IIRC Gatecrasher was there. Got abit of stick for choosy the cheese - but OMG what an atmostphere

First club I went to was corporation, aged 13. It always has been a haven for kids, and probably always will be. Can't believe it hasn't been closed down.

Pulse and Vogue when I was 18, on student night.

Was a bit scared as I had never been to a club before, but ended up just getting hammered and had a top time.

Funny thing is I now work in that building! :gag:

Romeo and Juliets cant remember how old I was but I do remember they used to ask what area you were from before you got in :)

Dont know if it is just seemed like it but nightclubs always looked cleaner and more upmarket in those days.

The first club i went to was Capitol (dont know what its called now) , it was amazing and always played classics first about a year before the charts, it seems like a dive now i look back but i was only 16 and it was like an after school club with older boys and amazing music. Oh and friday night was Rise, amazing ive never been to those bank holiday nights though because i dont want to spoil the memory of dancing till they turn on the lights at the end.

First Sheffield club - REBELS, Yorkshire's number one rock club! (it says on the T-shirt). :headbang:
I' wor greet. Miss the place badly. I really miss getting glammed up for Monday Rock nights at Roxy's too. Rock's moved on a bit since, and I don't look good in clumpy flat boots. :(

I remember Romeo and Juliets (and it's later incarnation Cairo-Jax), they used to have "couples only" nights, and you had to wear proper shoes, trousers and a "smart" shirt to get in.

I have to ask as I'm puzzled. Didn't Corporation open in 1997 at Bank Street? If so how could you have gone to Corp when you were 13 as that would have been in 1995 and it simply didn't exist then. I know Mutley did The Drop at City Hall on Fridays and Reservoir Rocks at the NMB on a Saturday back round about 94/95 ish - are these where you went??????

Sorry if I'm coming across as a bit pedantic, I'm really not - just checking that senile dementia isn't setting in 'cos I went to the opening night of The Corp and I am SURE it was 1997!!??!!

Monroes in Torquay which was turned into a gay club and then a decent dance venue then closed down and then (now) is probably not there!

Drop wasnt always at City Hall, it was back at what was the Palais/Music Factory/WhateveritsCalledNowOnLondonRoad....before that. They swapped between the two depending on whether students were about or what they felt like! :)

I was going there in 1992 when i was 16 (yes Im old). Corp did open in 1997 or thereabouts though.

The Krazy House in Liverpool 11 years ago when I was 16. Was into grunge and metal back then. First club in sheff would have been the music factory (Old Bed) I think when i was visiting x-girlf. Then started going to the old corp when i moved here (at 20). Then tried Gatecrasher against all of my principles at 21 and loved it. Went quite a lot, until it started to annoy me. Went to bed quite a lot until it started to annoy me. As mentioned, Urban gorilla and chibuku are probably my current favorite clubs.

can't really remember, may have been cairo's, or the drop under city hall, or possibly h2o in rotherham or the only large club that rotherham has (who's name escapes me). Either way, it was when i was 15 or 16.

When you say Corp didn't open until 97, when did that venue open as Cairos?

Then went to precinct in roth (run by the now convicted heroin dealer) what a kack hole that was but it ended up being the first club i dj'd in at 16.

We did get a few people in suits every now and then usually they were trendies 'slumming it' No problem with that but some of the more 'stuck up' girls had the oddest expressions on their faces.

first ****ty club- the zone in rotherham- im actually gonna go when it re-opens- they stripped out EVERYTHING on the inside and compleatly rebuilt it apparantly- 3.5million spent!!

but my first PROPER club was gatecrasher, i went in february 2001 and have loved it ever since, i have now moved to sheffield and am living with friends that i met through clubbing and have mates from all over the country that i met through there, it sounds pretty sad but it totally transformed my life and my lifestyle.

Speaking of which- anyone going to crasher tomorrow night, i know its a wednesday but its only a fiver to get in and matt hardwick, stevie g, riley and durrant and JFK are all playing trance all night long :D :D

My first club was the quite horrible Ritzys in Derby (cheap drinks student nite).. first club in sheffield was probably DROP @ City Hall, I barely missed a night around 95/96, it was wicked.

Its sooo crap for clubbing in shef now.. not felt at home anywhere since Remedy finished at PoNaNa...
