yes, I can confirm, the nags is definitely going... (I know the landlady)

it's a shame, because it is an old-fashioned, traditional, reasonably unspoilt pub, and it will be a big loss.

not sure about the meadow...

When is the Nags due to go? I'm surprised about this. I've played pool there many times and quite like the place.

The landlady will be moving tomorrow; she is taking over the Manchester Arms, on Nursery Street.

The Manchester will not be opening till approximately Wednesday of this coming week (the 10th?).

Sadly, the Manchester has been closed down, and neglected since the last landlord left, early this year, so it has needed some work doing on it, to make it habitable.

Pam, the landlady, has been having people in, working hard cleaning the place up, for at least the last three weeks, since it was confirmed that she was going to be the new Licensee. They had hoped to be able to do the transfer, seamlessly, close the Nags tonight, and open in the Manchester tomorrow, but due to the condition the place was in, after months of being empty, this was not to be so.

Mr PT is looking forward to The Manchester reopening, as it means that his pool teams now have a permanent base, once again.

PT,

I presume your talking about the Wednesday league? As I understand it the Nags Head already had a pool team that played on Thursday's in the Shalesmoor league. The Manchester used to have 2 teams that played in the Wednesday league that moved to the Shakespeare.

Can you confirm, are they likely to me moving back to the Manchester and what will become of the Nags Head Thursday team.

Ah I'm so sorry to see the Nages Head close - even though I knew it was coming - I used to love the sunday Karaoke nights there - I must check out the new Manchester when it opens - are there any plans to continue the Karaoke ?

Yes, Lickzz, the Manchester team, out of necessity, when the Manchester closed down, had to relocate, temporarily, to the shakespeare...

my OH plays for the Sunday, the Monday, the Wednesday and the Thursday leagues (phew!)

As I understand it, from the sketchy details that himself has given me, they are *very* strongly wanting to return to the Manchester, where they had been playing from, before the closure.

I am unsure whether the two pub teams will merge, or whether they will be renamed "manchester A and Manchester B or similar...

All I know, currently, is that the team that were originally from the Manchester, intend to be based at, and play from, the Manchester, once it reopens.

Interesting,

I just was curious if both Manchester teams would be moving back as there were 3 teams now playing from the Shakespeare in the Wednesday league.

I can't say I blame then for wanting to return. They played upstairs in the shakey and that function room is like a morgue. I played on the upstairs table twice and just didn't like the quiet atmosphere. You could hear a pin drop. I can't see teams merging because one of the teams is far better than the other.

Not sure about Meadow Street Hotel, although they have cleared the unit next to it (by the main road).

The Denison Arms, just a block away, has recently come down leaving only the Cask & Cutler, again only a block away, the only remaining original pub in the Shalesmoor/Port Mahon area.

In the past week the Meadow St Hotel has re-opened after being shut for about 6 months. Don't know what its future holds though.
