View Full Version : Weston Park Museum parking.
Krammers 12-04-2007, 18:07 We are wanting to take the kids to Weston Park Museum tomorrow, does anybody know of any free parking facilities close by. The last time I went was probably about 20 yrs ago and we used to catch the bus down from Crookes. We live at the other end of town and I know how busy it can be with the hospitals. Only place I thought that might be ok is outside Crookes Valley Park and walk through. Thanks in advance.:help:
There are often free spaces at the top of Northumberland Road (you need to pay, though) there might be a space or two on Mushroom Lane, as parking is not quite so intensive over Easter.
jowleywowley 12-04-2007, 18:44 You could park at Somerefield near the bottom of Manchester rd and walk down! If its a nice day it shouldnt be too bad! When I take my little brothers and sisters thats what i think im gonna do, parking is a nightmare otherwise!
lauradrury 12-04-2007, 18:53 u cud park near botanical gardens and walk only takes 15 mins and its free to park there on the main rd
roobarbpie 12-04-2007, 19:51 If you go down Mushroom Lane, about 1/3 way down on the left is a road that leads to a carpark. :)

You will be lucky to get into the car park on mushroom lane after 9am, unless its later in the day. Though Friday is a better day than most and the holidays should help. You will probably have more luck with the 4hr on street parking further up mushroom lane or the bottom of northumberland road as people have to move their cars from these spots during the day. Otherwise if you go up Northumberland Rd and take the 1st right there are some 2hr parking slots there. If you want to stay longer than 2-4hrs then I suggest you park somewhere further away and walk or get the bus. I work in this area and parking whilst not ideal before has become a complete nightmare since Sept when they made more of the streets residential only  We all end up having to leave patients waiting to run and move our cars in the middle of the day :( .
If you don't mind walking through Weston Park there are some limitless parking spaces in Netherthorpe. Parking in that part of town is a complete hit-and-miss affair and you're probably better off getting the bus.

desperatedan 29-09-2010, 20:01 Hiya, we'd like to visit the museum tomorrow, as i cant walk very far is there much parking at the museum?
megalithic 29-09-2010, 20:04 None specifically at the museum.
You'd be better off by bus or taxi, parking round there is a lottery and you may well find yourself driving round in circles waiting for a spot.

Thanks for the reply, but how does the museum get away with being disabled "unfriendly" i find it very difficult getting on and off buses, and from Killamarsh thats two buses i think, the taxi fare would be out of the question...its a shame as i havent visited the museum for yrs and was looking forward to it...:(
frank ryan 29-09-2010, 20:20 forget it - park in fulwood and get the bus down, also a chance to see how the other half lives!
I park on the corner of Harcourt Road and Crookes Valley Road and just walk through the park. 40p for 2 hours
There are a couple of blue badge spaces just behind the museum on Mushroom Lane desperatedan :)
