I have just got two new kittens who are absolutely adorable. However, the little boy keeps constantly jumping on the little girl and biting her ears, every so often the little girl will have a go herself. He just will not leave her alone when she is trying to sleep. I was wanting some advice as to whether people think I should split them up to give the little girl a bit of time to sleep on her own or whether I should just leave them to it. They are only nine weeks old at the moment and he can go for a good six hours without a nap but she wants more sleep.
Apart from that they are fine though, they are booked in for their first set of injections next week - also does anyone have further any advice. I have told the vet that I do want them to have the Lukemia vacination but have been told by others that it is not necessarily what do people think. At the moment I am going to get them vaccinated but would welcome any advice. I have looked on quite a few websites and all these say that it is recommended, it is just that niggling that if they don't need it, it is just putting unnecessary things into their little bodies. Sorry if it is important they will be out door cats as soon as they are old enough and have been spayed/neutered. Thanks

pictures please! i love a good kitten pic...
anyway, yes, you should give them leukemia jabs if they're going to be outdoor cats. i don't know if there's a minimum age at which you can do that though.
keep an eye on your boy; we had to get our boy chopped at 5 months because he was an early developer and couldn't keep his bits away from his prepubescent sister :gag: .
piccies please - and ditto what babychickens suggests - he is being boisterous but he shouldnt harm his little sister - but he could be an early developer - your vet will advise best age to get him snipped. I wouldnt split them up, once your girls has gained her confidence a bit more she will soon tell him when to leave her alone.
My brother and sister kitties beat each other up pretty much every night! One of them will start cleaning the other's head and them wham! The cleaning one will bite the poor other sleepy (and now clean one), a biting and kicking fight ensues for a couple of minutes, the one who was sleeping gives the other one THE most cross look a cat can and leaves the sleepy place. Cleaning cat then takes over sleepy cat's warm spot. Maybe they never grow out of it? Siblings...
Thanks for the advice, I will get them the leukemia jabs as well.
They have calmed down a little bit now and it is now her who is attacking him!!!!
I will put some photo's on as soon as I can find my installation disc for my camera. They are so cute!

I think a good sibling scrap is usual! It's establishing the hierarchy... cleaning cat is saying 'i'm in charge' when licking.
They also bite a lot less than in real fights although they do bite, Basil was covered in scabs for years where Ted was regularly chomping on her, bless.
Even at 12 they still enjoy a good scrap now whuich usually begins with the washing episode. Ted cleans Basil, Basil goes to return the favour, Ted chucks a fit and the ears go back, a warning bites follows, kicking ensues, followed by mad chase around the house with that strange backwards ear thing they do and the back leg kicking on the floor as if they are saying commme on!
If they ever do go too far it turns into hisses and then they tend to stop and come and find me.
I second the leukemia jab vote.
Catteries tend to insist on the Feline Enteritris and Cat 'flu jabs, but rarely the leukemia jab.
However, if your cats are vaccinated against it and they subsequently get exposed to a cat with FeLV, then they become immune. So, should you know they have post-vaccination exposure, you can save on future costs.
Good luck with them. She'll have to learn to box his ears and, if you have the time to devote to it, say no and then distract him with a toy or a feather. Maybe one of those automated toys might help keep him entertained?
