Can anyone help me with a problem I'm having with Microsoft Word. Every time I save a document and reload it, a list of technical stuff appears at the bottom of the document. It can be deleted, but if you save it, it comes back when you load up again. Worse still, if you print the document, the list appears on the page. Does anyone know how to turn the bloody thing off?

EG: A straightforward document i wrote called "A history of Horology", has this at the bottom:

IncYC:/WINDOWS/Application Data/Microsoft/Auto Recovery save of A History of Horology.asd
C:/A History of Horology.doc.
Unknowny
Times New Roman
AA history of horology
Microsoft Word9.0
Root Entry
1Table

etc etc.

Try turning Auto-Save off if it's possible? I don't use word anymore so I'm a bit out of touch with it. Alternatively try updating word to a more recent version. Failing that ask Martin S :heyhey:

Odd... try changing the view style to "Print Layout" and check for any settings, options that might include Formatting information...

If you can give more detail about your version of Word, operating system, etc.. that would help nail it down too.

Sounds like the document is corrupted.

Open a new document and copy and paste it into the new one.

Alternatively, save it as a RTF file, quit word and open it again and read the RTF it back in. You may lose some formatting but it is worth a try.

These look like some form of imbedded printer command that isn't normally printed. If your normal.dot template is corrupted you can get this type of thing. I 've had it happen a long time again Try creating a new normal.dot template. Run a search for:

"normal.dot" once you find it rename it to say "oldnormal.dot" and then save. Then reopen word - it will say it can't find normal.dot and ask you if you want to creat a new one click yes. If this doesn't cure it or you are still stuck pm me and I'll see what I can think of. It's a long time since I've had this problem so I'm going on memory.
