Has any one seen "The Ulley Man"? He is alsways walking on the bypass near Crystal Peaks and Swallownest, talking to himself, We see him just about every day at different times always dressed the same with a shoulder bag walking by the side of the road, Who is this man and what is he doing ?
Do his carers know he is walking on a busy bypass every day?
I peep my car and wave to him but he never looks!:)

Apparently he used to walk near Ulley bypass, hence the name.

Yeah, i used to work at Aston and we saw him everywhere in the area! We called him 'stroller'! What a life tho, he just used to walk places - even in the bitter winter!

Used to be another walking man who walked between Rotherham and Maltby endlessly.
We once stopped and offered him a lift and he said "no, I have to walk!"
This was back in the 80's....

I see him a number fo times each day on my travels and have heard numerous stories about him, bu the one which is most common is that his father (or some other close family member) died in a fire and as a result he has extreme claustrophobia, and can't stand to be inside.

He walks the same route EVERY day, come rain or shine, and I often feel very sorry for him.

I believe he lives in Beighton and the furthest I have seen him along the road from there is at Canklow, near Wickes in Rotherham.

I see him in a morning setting off for his walk and sometimes there is a lady with him, who I assume is possbily his mum, although she must go elsewhere while he continues his walk.
I then see him (I suppose returning home) most nights on my way home. To think that he has been walking all day while I have been at work is unbelieveable.

I know that he has walked around the Ulley area for many years in all weathers, but I have recently seen him in different places as well.

Whatever his reasons are for this I don't know, but you just can't help but feel sorry for him.

This storey is incredible. We should get him one of those Walkers Walk-O-Meters for XMAS.

I obviously don't want to upset anyone deliberately but I do feel concerned for his happiness and well-being, especially when I see him trudging along in the rain, wind etc.

However as long as you say he's Ok and happy (ish) thats fine by me and I personally will leave it at that.
