Maisey arrives tomorrow, and I am really excited, but reading the comments about dogs and rabbits it has started me thinking. My dragon tank is in the front room. Until now I have not worried about this - they're in a secure tank and if anything they'll be company; Faith -who thinks she's the dominant male of the tank - will try and bob at her and she's used to living with other dogs so will love a new 'pack' but, and this might be last minute nerves, what if they don't get on? what if she scares them? Has anyone else got reptiles and dogs?

Our dogs show very little interest in our reptiles. Obviously I don't let them play together but basically the dogs ignore them in their tanks and if we do get them out they generally ignore them then as well although might come over for a sniff.

I think the way reptiles tend to move means they're less interesting to dogs our snake generally moves slowly which probably isn't that exciting. I dread to think how our dogs would react to something like a rabbit but then one of them is half greyhound whose favourite activity is squirrel hunting!

Thankfuly it went very well, the dominant dragon (Faith) came for a look and Maisey seemed interested back but aside from a mini-growl there's been no friction. It was really cute when they were moving up and down the sides of the glass together.

She won't get up stairs so the snakes are safe. Her breed likes ratting so I'm avoiding any mouse related friction.

My dog loves watching my beardie catch his crickets and she always comes over for a sniff and the beardie does not care or he would run off or tail whip the dog.

On another note she has also been integrated with my snakes and same again she'll come for a sniff and sit next to me when I'm holding them and as you know a threatened snake will either rattle the tail or strike out. Mine do neither of these.

I think she'd be fine with the snake normally, its just feeding or mouse smells that worry me.

For now there's a glass divider with the dragons. The two girls don't have tails and the male has a deformity (a rehomer). I'm sure Faith'd get her chin out if she was worried though.

Yeah when my beardie is annoyed his beard turns jet black and the tail gets cocked ready to whip
