:( anyone help i,ve taken an interest in tropical fish keeping over the last 9 months or so, good enjoyable hobby but i've had an apple snail problem for the last 2-3 months cannot get shut of the dam things, anyone any tips , i've tried lettuce leaf, to me that just fattens them up :help:

You can get snail kill chemicals that are apparently harmless to the fish.
Also, when you introduce new plants wash them in tap water then soak them in de chloronated water. This will kill any snail eggs on the plants.

I thought apple snails were GOOD for your tank? Jeez, sheffield aqautics sells them!
Ive also got a snail problem in my tank at the moment, although mine arent apple snails. Must have come in on one of my plants, and now theyre laying eggs all over the place. Luckily, its still a relatively new tank, so it hasnt got much in the way of fish in there yet...plenty of room for me to put a couple of clown loach in tomorrow and watch them eat the little buggers.
