My old man and his mate would go round all the houses that were being demolished and nick all the solid doors. They are worth about £100 each now and my dad had piles and piles of them on our back garden. Those old houses were great play grounds once the floorboards had been taken out!. kirky 04-11-2004, 06:27 troggy is still pushing his barrow around, although he's come up in the world now,he's got one with a tyre on.....also wraggy is still on the go..... but his tash is grey now...and after all these years he's still just an ordinary pc. depoix 04-11-2004, 14:51 used to be my local, was in one night when someone chained the doors closed from out side, troggy once fell asleep under the pool table, think it had about seven landlords in nine weeks kirky 04-11-2004, 15:34 Originally posted by depoix used to be my local, was in one night when someone chained the doors closed from out side, troggy once fell asleep under the pool table, think it had about seven landlords in nine weeks if your around 40ish i bet i know you depoix 04-11-2004, 15:56 Originally posted by kirky if your around 40ish i bet i know you kirky, did you go in elm tree when barry mullen had it? we used to do the manor then, elm, punch bowl then weekends we sometimes went over to the arbourthorne hotel for the groups or if there was a good turn on we would go to one of the 3 clubs..... kirky 04-11-2004, 16:25 Originally posted by depoix kirky, did you go in elm tree when barry mullen had it? we used to do the manor then, elm, punch bowl then weekends we sometimes went over to the arbourthorne hotel for the groups or if there was a good turn on we would go to one of the 3 clubs..... when barry had the elmtree i was in there most nights, did you know he had died a couple of years ago.........i knocked around with his son..simon depoix 04-11-2004, 16:36 yes i knew he had died, last saw him down the cliffe,he had a cafe i think, one time he was running the bath pub ( no jokes please ) i think it was just after he left the elm tree halevan 04-11-2004, 18:31 Originally posted by roughy101 anyone remember the goings on at the manor what about old troggy is he still alive i remember him pushing his barrow around the manor an him having a number plate saying troggy 1 alot of characters to remember there I lived just down the road from the Manor Hotel, my local, but I only went in odd times as it deteriorated into a dump and the landlord was accused of watering the beer. They are all older than me but when i grew up on the Manor age didn't matter, we all hung on to the 'old uns' with no trouble. I remember the middle lad had a huge Jackdaw as a pet. He used to call it Jack :suspect: and it would just appear from nowhere and land on your shoulder or head. Their home used to be on Queen Mary Rd with the back garden backing on to the Manor fields. Do i have the right Hopkinson's ????? vhopkinson 17-12-2004, 08:24 Originally posted by vidster I know of the name Hopkinson off the Manor. I believe there are three lads and one lass. You may have the rite Hokinsons thats my husbands name, they have a big family. They lived on Prince of Wales rd at Crabtree Farm. Yes their house backed on to the Manor fields which lead down to the woods. Don't know about any Jackdaw but will make enquires. Names are Peter Gordon and a few others. Prince of Wales Rd isn't actually that close to the Manor fields. The names you mentioned do not ring any bells we may be talking about different generations (no offence intended). I'm not sure about the name of the oldest lad. The ones i can remember are Darren, Neill and the lass is called Keeley. The Jackdaw used to belong to Darren and it followed him everywhere. vhopkinson 18-12-2004, 04:11 Originally posted by vidster I think we may have crossed wires somewhat.
