does anyone know of any decent classes for boxing or kick boxing or something similiar?? i want a proper class, not the ones you get at gyms by a lady who does the spinning classes, aerobics and step aswell. i want a fully trained experienced instructor that know what they are on about. also a place that accepts beginners. any ideas??

how about martial arts? then you can take your pick of lots.

i did kickboxing a little and found different martial arts more fun, better fitness and more usefull for self defence.

Try The Wicker Camp for Thai Boxing - run by one of the best martial arts instructors I have ever met. Its on Effingham Road these days - if you use the 'search site' facility I'm sure you will find details :)

Hi there, its a boxing class. Young and old and as competative as you like it to be. The double six club is on the junction of chesterfield road and woodseats road, the building that looks like an old church hall. Nice nu ring, and bags etc. Really friendly trainers.

I was told good things abut the Wicker Camp for Thai Boxing up in Newcastle
It was one of the places I was told to look out for when I moved down. Apparently there are some v-good, hard fighters from there.

Do any of you know if they hold competitions in Sheff??? If so where and when??? I wouldn’t mind seeing a good Thai fight

Yup its from 5pm till 7.30, but you can go down from 6 also for an hour and half. Mon/Wed/Fri Think its roughly 2.50 a session u can pay for the week also. I reccommend popping in and having a gander.

hey nataliesheff

I go to a gym in town thats on wellington street (near my local boozer the devonshire cat) the one with the blue door not the one on the corner .

The teacher there is an Ex kickboxer i.e. someone who used to fight kickboxing and now teaches absolute novices (and fat unfit gits like me!!!, LOL) and also trains the better ,younger, fitter , tougher ones for the ring (if they want to fight that is)

they have 4 different nights a week 2 at the boxing gym and 2 at hallam uni (near good ol' eccy road)

their website is
