I had a look at a plot of land yesterday that's for sale at the top of whiston (going away from rotherham on the left as you crest the hill out of whiston).

850 sqr mtrs, quite large, has planning permission.

I was completely shocked to get home and find out that the price was £170,000...

Is it really worth that? Anyone else seen any land for sale in or around sheffield?

The price probably reflects the closeness to major towns and cities, as well as motorway links, and if it has planning permission, well in the words of Arfur Daley 'the world's your lobster' as far as the price is concerned.

A plot of land that is quite small (just big enough for a house and garage) that is on my road went for 80k, and that was about 2 years ago, maybe more.

Depending on what it has planning permission for that sounds like a reasonable price.

I understand that the City Council only expects to get £28k for the old Lodge moor POW camp

Its not the whole camp itself, its just the field next to it. The actual camp buildings are in the wooded part adjacent and are not for sale

Suprised you even looked at it without knowing the details. i.e. price, who currently owns it etc. Unless you came upon it by accident i.e. whilst driving past , in which case above post not relevant.

Well its just over 0.2 acre, which probably makes it quite cheap. I'll have to get up there tomorrow!

I walk the dogs every day round the POW camp.....cant believe they want 28K. No one is allowed to build there so it can only be farm land or something like that.
