I saw Souness moaning the other day that his team who play football full of flair and excitement had lost to a team that just constantly 'launches' long balls. He was talking about Bolton.
Which brings the questions. Is style of play important or is it just about results and style and excitement don't matter?
Euro 2004 showed that style of playing is important with Greece being the champions.
Greece showed teamwork, which most managers (notably wednesday's multiple managers) seem to have forgotten is important.

Look at Arsenal. Playing some fantastic football.
Under George Graham their style was awfull but were the Arsenal fans whinging. No because they were still getting results.
I think thats the key.....results.
Results are always the key to keeping the fans happy.
The result will be remembered long after the fact it was a crap game is forgotten.

It is good to play attractive football, but the managers and players are proffessionals, it is their job to get the best results with the resources available.
If Graham Souness had players that could play good defensive tight football then he would. Those comments after losing a game just sound like sour grapes.
Incidentally I think Bolton generally aren't that dull to watch.

He is in charge of a Premiership team with loads of 'quality' players. They should be able to cope with any style of football that is played against them, if they can't then it needs looking at instead of moaning about what Bolton did.
Totall or direct football? It's the reults that count in the end.
Style is very important (http://www.funnyjunk.com/p/poofs2-jpg.html) :hihi:
teamwork and effort who cares about the style so long as the result is right and they have given thier all
style is very important. English premier league and spanish la liga are the most watched football leagues in the world because of the style of the teams. Defensive style is very boring, once i really felt asleep when watching Ac Milan vs juventus because non were attacking and all defending and nothing interesting is going on.
Style is very important. Greece had luck on their side in euro2004 not because of their brilliant defence, just tonight they lost 3-0 to brazil. you see what i mean
