It was very funny - esp the dirty dancing parody and the last bit - a good start to the series....

Once they got to the nightclub (first time) i started crying with laughter and did'nt really stop until it went off. Brilliant start!

Something tells me there will be a new catchphrase

"HOW DARE YOU!!!"

Quality programme!

Best bit IMO was at the end - "Paddy needs relief!"

My thoughts too, bit dissapointed.

I also thought there was no need for the F*** words, not that I am a prude or anything. just thought that it doesnt make it any more funnier, so why use it.

Pheonix didnt have any swear words.

There was only one 'F' in Fridays episode, and I thought it was in perfect context to the situation.Paddy was tyring(poorly) to chat up the ladeez, and she told him to Eff off.
In Phoenix nights, when Brian was wining and dining Beverley the DSS inspector,a woman came up and asked Brian if he would like flower for the lady and he tells her to Eff off.
Also,The audition with the man with the toy gorilla,Brian asks him if that is it,and again he tells him to Eff off.

I hate to split hairs, but I have no life and watched the DVD a dozen times.

You just don`t get the sense of humour. Us Lancastrians are a strange bunch.

It was so funny, next week they are sleeping in the woods and I can`t wait to see it.

I loved the bit with the speakers buy 1 get 1 free.

Sorry, I was massively disappointed. I'm a big Peter Kay fan and have watched Phoenix Nights countless times but this just doesn't work.

I'd been looking forward to it all week as well. About 10 minutes in I had a sinking feeling as I realised I hadn't laughed once. Max and Paddy aren't strong enough to carry off a series in their own right. They were brilliant in the Phoenix Club setting but it doesn't work taking them outside the club. I think the reliance on Max and Paddy also shows up Paddy McGuiness' acting skills to be honest.

I think the rumours that Dave Spikey (Jerry St Clair) was the real genius behind Phoenix Nights could be true if the 1st episode was anything to go by. I hope I'm wrong - maybe next week's will be better.

To be fair, I don't think that's true. Dave is great, and very funny, but the whole PN thing was a 3 way split between him, Peter and Neil Fitzmaurice. Neil, in particular, is very funny, and great with the gags. Also, on PN, there were six stand up comics as the cast, so lots of stuff got thrown in along the way.

I've not seen M&P yet, as I'm out of the country, but I'm sure it'll be hugely popular. I've heard there are some big nude scenes...

Has anyone seen the cartoon version of sid the sexist from viz?

That scene in the nightclub where he was trying to pull the girls was identical to that, but obviously the gags couldn't be quite so blue.

I like the word blue.

It was very funny tho'.

Much better this week I thought. Loved the Phoenix Nights flashback.

"She was a kind of midget"

"Wasn't that a Queen song?"

Big improvement on the first ep, hopefully they'll keep it up through the series. Loved the hair too Toby :-)

Classic? thought that "joke" was awful....you could predict the punchline a mile off,to be honest i expected better from peter, just seems a bit lazy to me somehow, iam a big fan of peter kays stuff, watched phoneix nights over and over again, brilliant, but this just feels like he's going through the motions, still it may improve, and i really hope it does.

I have to disagree - I thought it was good fun. Something nice and easy to have a giggle at. Some comedy shows are a little in depth. I think it will be a hit.

Yeah i know what you mean, nice and easy.....maybe expectations were a little high, perhaps if it had been an undiscovered show on late night channel 4 or something i may have enjoyed it more......was expecting alot better.

The closing credits. "We here love, waving at you. you can see us. An hour, but we are only over the road. Member?, no I am not but play the game love"

FANTASTIC
