Does anyone know how I'd find out about job opprtunities in the civil service? I'm after jobs a tad above the pay scales of admin officers - perhaps at £14k or over. Also, I'd prefer to stay in Sheffield rather than be posted to other cities. I've got oodles of admin experience and a good degree. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Have you tried the Clerical Register at Rockingham Job Centre ?? Thats how I got in..
Degrees won't get you far in the Civil Service, its all competency based (or is was when I joined 6 years ago!)

I joined as a temp.. 6 years later Im still there, applied for the jobs that came up whilst I was there and got in.
Even be worth checking the Vacancy boards in the Job Centres for Civil Service jobs.

I worked for them for a few months and now I'd really like to go back. I wish I hadn't told them I wasn't interested in workin there now lol.

I worked for the Revenue for 42 years and got nowhere (possibly because I was a Union rep for most of them).
If you really want to progress you'll need a brown nose!
Seriously the faststream link is the best way - if you can stand it.

home office advertising at the moment via the job centre for temp-to-permenant admin officers £12,700 a year on a fixed contract to start off with....
you are very unliekly to find an external job for better wages for a while....
